Great! Thanks for the response, like I said...Never come across one or know of anyone who trained with them. Just wanted to get an idea of how they work or why some trainers use them.
It seemed in the video, the main goal he wanted was to get the dog more responsive to him as a base foundation...
So I love to watch a variety of dog training videos, Came across one where a guy mainly positive reinforcement training used a prong collar and getting quite quick results, dog calming down, giving a lot more eye contact, less anxious etc. It's my first time of hearing of one of these...What is...
Hey thanks for the replies. Yeah that's how I set them up so I can fit two fingers under but the chain still checks...this way works for me.
Yeah every style is different and I'll take on board what everyone has said...always looking to adapt training methods.
So I've compiled this blog post, it's to help any puppy owners to make their first step outside with their puppy companion that little easier. I go over collars and leads and also some recall games in the house on lead. There's a video of me explaining the collars and leads I use, and an...
Quick tip:
For making it a positive experience outside, as soon as your puppy toilets say a toilet word so "Wee Wee" for example as your puppy is doing her business and then as soon as she has done. Give her big vocal praise.
Ok so he was the one who first proposed doesn't mean it died out then just because he retracted what he said. Oh and i'll take one journal link as a be all and end all?? No they have not this is all based on your opinion and many other non behavioural based dog trainers. I wouldn't and many...
Ok i understand it's not for everyone but i've never had or my mentor who's been training 20+ years have a dog react or think in the way you describe because of the water spray. I'm sorry but thats how dogs think and people tend to humanise dogs when they are not, Not sure if you're a trainer or...
Hi yes well put...I didn't explain myself correctly but you are spot on, i meant as in to start crate training, didn't need to put info as there are plenty of resources and people that know a lot more regarding crate training than i do. Well usually within those time frames it works out to be an...
So firstly if you can begin crate training, this teaches them to be able to hold in their toileting as they won't toilet in their den, I'd also feed in the crate as they don't toilet where they eat.
To get him to stop in house scatter some treats where he toilets as dogs won't toilet where they...
Ok so from experience yes puppies bite and chew, is this acceptable behaviour...No! If you don't correct this now it will only get worse.
So a dog only bites/chew in that context for a few reasons:
1. Teething (puppy so partly this)
2. They need to chew, so in the wild it would be RAW bones...
Ok hmmm i'd say as i don't give my dog any of these:
1. Grapes
2. Onion (onion family)
3. Potatoes (Not 100% if they're looseness but not the best)
So yeah please correct me if I'm wrong but these are what i don't give my dog
