    Self limiting disease

hi there! Have you heard any more from your vet? a self limiting disease or condition is one that has a limted time span, something like chicken pox or a vomiting bug. That is, it is an illness that has a definite time frame, not something ongoing... i think so many people have looked without...

Name for new dog - any suggestions?

i've always fancied doug, as a good name for a dog, or gripper, he looks like a gripper :)

    Beagle fussy eater!

you could try eliminating grains from her diet, these can often cause a bit of itchiness. Fussy dogs are amazing eh? Mine is, and was very underweight when i got him. i tried many tricks to get him to eat, and put on weight. If she's on weight then i'd say you are just playing the food is power...

    Is my dog a x?

looks very westie, their ears are meant to be big and pointy, my friends ones ears always look massive, when she's just been clipped.

    Fear imprint stage?

hiya, i think its a fairly normal stage, i reckon. the puppy we had at work had a similar scaredy stage, they're begining to look adult but they are still babies really, you've still got the teenage crazies to got through yet. I'd just keep going with your training, and try not to worry too...

My staff got into a fight. looking for suggestions/ideas

oh you poor things, what a nasty thing to happen. Your dog sounds like a good lad if he stopped when told. I think that the only thing you can do is give him the benefit of the doubt, assume he was being defensive rather than aggresive and see how he is in the future, worrying about it too much...

Advice on taking a dog camping

it'll probably be a good chance to practise getting him used to horses being around, you might be able to aproach a rider and see if they would let you practise walking him calmly past them. Fingers crossed for some cold weather for you ;)

Content, happy, bored, depressed, unwell ? which one ?

she sounds content to me, just getting past her puppy years, and chilling out in the cool. The dogs at work have deserted me this summer and gone and hid indoors, my boy still tries to brave the heat, but even he has had to retreat. yours sounds like she is happy and satisfied by her walks, and...

    Gateshead dog needs your help!

hiya, i have similar troubles with my dog. local professional dogwalkers have been a real help, they let me tag along, by prior arrangement, or if i happen to turn up for a walk at the same time as them.. luckily my dog is no fool and will approach a whole pack of dogs calmly, so this is ideal...

    Shy puppy 16 week old

ooh this is interesting, poor little chap, has he not had much contact with ladies before maybe? Its usually the other way round. Perhaps he is un-used to the pitch of her voice, a higher pitch signifies excitement to a dog so maybe he is a bit wary, if he is a little shy. Did you both collect...

Is my pug x developing a cocky attitude?!

aaaw bless 'em. It does sound a bit like little gizmo is protecting boss a bit, if he senses boss is a bit nervous then he will take charge and bark at the other dog. But who knows eh? Sounds like you are doing a super job of socialising him, so it will probably work itself out in the end. Do...

Is my pug x developing a cocky attitude?!

aaaw what a beautiful pair. Its difficult to work out why dogs do stuff eh? Little crazy beasts.. The fact you have isolated when it happens is a start.. Is boss maybe acting a bit nervously or excited in some subtle way that then triggers little gizmo? Maybe even the fact that you are holding...

    Pregnant and dog troubles!

hi kesslete. I didn't think you were mistreating him :) i was imagining him as a bit of a handful. All springers are! I think i understand why your frustrations about the dog are causing you to get a bit irritated (hate? :) ) by his presence. Keeping a springer fulfilled is real job and a...

    My puppy loves leather!

aaaw, he is still a tiny chappy, and they do love to chew. My dog also loves leather, but a no! works on him cos he's ten :) maybe ban him from the sofa entirely? Have you tried those spray can things that hiss? Useless if he doen't go near it when you are there tho... Erm.. What about a crate...

    Pregnant and dog troubles!

saying what someone should have done is no help. It seems like the partner needs the earbashing, not this lady. Not being in control of any situation is very stressful, which is not healthy for anyone, dog included. From the information this lady has provided, it seems like her intentions were...
