    Paw sores, advice needed.

If I were you, I would get a second opinion from another vet. It could be an allergy; she could be allergic to grass and needs medication to stave it off.

    Epileptic four year old

You saying that reminds me that I always had a ramp for one of my Newfoundlands. Thanks.

    Epileptic four year old

Thank you for all the replies. The crutches analogy makes sense! Certainly I have nearly broken my back trying to get her back half into the car this morning. I did try a little stool, but she just kicked it out of the way. She looks so fed up with herself, it's breaking my heart.

    Epileptic four year old

Thanks for replying. I have thought about a ramp, but she is only four and I think once I get some weight off her, she will be back to jumping in again. She is only four and getting a ramp at this age seems to be giving up somehow. Also, she sits on the back seat, so not sure how a ramp would...

    Epileptic four year old

I would consider one, but I don't think I can afford one! I can't walk myself so I take her out with me on my mobility scooter; usually we go to a park where she can be off lead, but as I said, getting her in the car is a nightmare. I am waiting to hear back from the hydrotherapy centre as...

    Seizures

I know exactly how you feel. Last year my four year old Golden Retriever suddenly had a seizure; frightened the living daylights out of me. She went to the clinic for an MRI and spinal tap, but there's no cause. I hope you have more luck with your dog. It can be that, if the weather is really...

    Advice needed

If it started when he tried to jump on the sofa, I would say he has either pulled a muscle or caught a nerve. Either way, you need to see a vet as soon as possible.

    Epileptic four year old

I really wanted to ask if anyone else has had a similar problem and what the outcome was. My Golden Retriever is only four. Last year she started having fits; she had a spinal tap and an MRI to see if there was a reason and there isn't. Gradually, they went from one a month to a cluster of three...

    Sleeping through help

My dog comes and wakes me up if her water runs out.

    Landseer ECT

They are a separate breed in the United States. In the UK, they are just a different colour of the Newfoundland breed. I had three Newfies, two boys who drooled and girl who didn't. But you won't know until they are about six months old whether they are going to be droolers. Personally, I am not...

    Epilepsy

Thank you. She thrashes about all over the place, knocked the cat biscuit feeder over and spread them all over the place. But the worst I think is that she tries to get into corners and behind the furniture. I'm frightened she's going to hurt herself. Yesterday I stayed up with her from 2.30 am...

    Epilepsy

Jemima is on phenobarbitone. She started off with one twice a day and is now up to three, so I don't want them to give her any more. Usually she will go a few weeks between seizures, but when they come, they never come in ones. I have to go to vet soon to collect her skin allergy medication, so...

    Epilepsy

Her medication was increased last time and yes, she does seem to be panting a lot.

    Epilepsy

She had another seizure at 1.30. It is unusual for her to have a gap of a only a few hours in between. Hope that's it for today.

    Epilepsy

I took her out (we drive to a dog playing field) and she had a sniff round then went and lay under a picnic table! It is such a worry. Thanks for your advice.

    Epilepsy

She went back to sleep about 6 and is still sleeping. I won't wake her specially, but I worry that she is not getting enough exercise. She has put on a lot of weight recently and has been on low fat food, but not sure if she has lost any. Thanks for the reply.

    Epilepsy

Does any member's dog have epilepsy? My four year old Golden Retriever started having seizures last year and is on medication. She has had all the tests, MRI and spinal tap, but no particular reason for it. The problem I have is I am never sure what to do after a seizure, whether to keep her...

my dog not showing prove she can protect her self when the need comes

Dogs don't know about cultural differences; they know they're not happy being taught to fight everything on four legs. I am in England and we have very few places that are designed especially for dogs. I am fortunate enough to live not far from one and I spend a couple of hours every day...

my dog not showing prove she can protect her self when the need comes

Most people own a dog because they love dogs. They keep them for company, for love, not to attack and if he does bite another dog, a court could order him euthanised. They might also ban you from keeping a dog. As to being attacked in your home, most dogs will protect its owner, no matter its...

my dog not showing prove she can protect her self when the need comes

Is this some sort of warped joke? Worry? I would be more worried about you having a dog. Firstly, if you have told your dog to attack in the past, the other dogs will remember that and react accordingly. Secondly, if his tale is up he is not afraid. You are making your dog aggressive and fo no...
