Hi,
I have a 6yo weimarner cross staffy that keeps getting recurring sores on her paws between the toes. This has been happening on/off since November and is affecting mostly her back paws but it's not contained to one paw. We've been to and from the vets who other than give us antibiotics and a suggestion to wash feet after walking (I always have done and continue to do so) shrug their shoulders at me.

These patches honestly don't seem to bother her, no lameness, changes in behaviour ect and they disappear after a week or so of salt water bathes twice a day. But I cant figure out the cause and was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.

She's also got a few patches of fur around her paws pads that look like ingrown hair or just balding. Again vets tell me she's fine but was wondering if I should be plucking these hairs or something?

A few pics below of the current sore on her front paw.
Any advice would be welcome, thanks.

Epsom salt baths might help?

From what I've read, soak for about ten minutes then rinse thoroughly. Good luck, please let us know how you get on.

Have you tried diluted hibiscrub..I always keep a bottle at home ..

If I were you, I would get a second opinion from another vet. It could be an allergy; she could be allergic to grass and needs medication to stave it off.

My dog recently nibbled one of his paws until it bled quite badly. One thing that was recommended was a thin smear of Savlon cream on the sore areas which we did and seemed to help. this was recommended by our vet, just make sure you use it sparingly though as it can be toxic in large quantities. How are things going now?

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into this aswell. We're going to try the epsom salt bath this evening for the first time and the hibiscrub another person suggested should be here Tuesday so I'll have a look at that. But so far no change, I'm just keeping the area clean and dry as usual.

It's not weeping or anything so I'm not worried and she's absolutely fine, she doesn't even bother it. I think I'll give the vets a call this week though and see about allergy testing as I did think it was from wet ground/mud but it's summer now and we're still having the same issues 🤷🏽‍♀️

Also been looking at boots which she's going to hate haha 😄 so thanks all.

As mentioned, an allergy could be a possibility and a second opinion from another veterinary surgery.
Homeopathic vets may be of more use if it should be an allergy!
Diets are also connected to many allergies.
