Nice one Jeff I'm well chuffed with them. Thanks everyone else for the replies Lol Sparky they're my work wellies we were just off out with them when that photo was taken I think they came back a bit dirytier than that.
I'm proud to announce Ebb has had a litter of 6 pups. They were born early Saturday morning wasn't exactly plain sailing but we got there in the end. Pups are doing well and mother is rxcelling in her new role. Kaspa (Banatay Brava) the dad is feeling a bit left out though.
I couldn't agree more nothing worse than a fat dog. I know staffs can be very athletic I was bought up with my cousins what a dog. He was a fighter though he'd scale a six foot fence to get at another dog and run all day after stones in the field. He was a tan and a bit more leggy than alot...
Great to see so many fit staffs nice specimens with a bit of leg to them are some of them Irish in origin / I hope you don't mind me asking I've always been a bit of a staff fan.
If you.ve bought your pup to work you've got the right pup. Expect it to show very early interest best to hold it back a bit you wont be disappointed. Good luck
Forgive my ignorance I know very little about non peds I only have two peds I was just wondering do all non peds have greyhound somehere in their breeding?
Or are some of the smaller weight classes pretty much pure non registered (KC that is) whippets?
That's a lovely bitch but no the 14th photo on page 3 and 7th and 8th on page 4 like I said I'm probably way off the mark but there is some resemblence to my pup. Thanks Lamping man that would be great if you could find a photo.
This is the beauty of breeding for work or otherwise finding two complimentary dogs it's what everyone is searching for those interested in breeding that is. The amount of times I've decided on a stud for the future and bored our brother senseless with the merits of using that particular dog...
Looks like it was a great day. Superb pictures are any of them of Misemaine Relish ? He's my new pups sire never seen a picture but if there is one of him looking at my pup I'd say it was the fawn part in the black collar probably totally wrong.
I think alot of whippets show or race bred would work if given the chance. I think Mike Brown gave his the chance and through line and inbreeding fixed the working qualities he was after. I don't think this line is superior but it has been bred for the purpose so it lesens the chance of having...
Whippets generally have strong hunting instincts and if yours is bred from working stock entering it to quarry ie. rabbit won't be a problem. The main thing like keith said is getting basic training right first. I've got a 15 month old whippet that entered very quickly just over 5 months old...
I didn't know that about kelpies not throwing merles Len was from a guy in pershore who took his bitch to Dave Sleight to mate to one of his dogs I think kelpie /boy blue. The bitch got out and he (Dave Sleight) wrote an article about it in the Earth dog running dog. last year sometime. I...
Hi my mates got one it's Kelpie whippet x Kelpie greyhound/whippet out of Dave Sleight's breeding. Len's about 12 months old and showing a lot of promise very obedient he drops like a sheep dog to the whistle. Here's a picture about 5 months old in this one. len's on the right
Yes exactly like Ebb she seems fine in herself although she has lost a bit of edge and keeness in terms of chasing rabbits. I'd just like to thank everyone for their replies and advice. I wasn't over worried but it's just reassuring to hear that it's a common occurance thanks again to everyone Rob
Hi I wonder if anyone can help, my whippet Ebb finished her 1st season recently and her teats are swollen, not hugely but there is a ring around each one. Is this normal ? Ebb's my first bitch so I'm a bit in the dark about seaons and things like that.
