Hi I wonder if anyone can help, my whippet Ebb finished her 1st season recently and her teats are swollen, not hugely but there is a ring around each one. Is this normal ? Ebb's my first bitch so I'm a bit in the dark about seaons and things like that.

bitchs often loose the fur around their teats after being in season its a hormonal thing ie: they loose the fur so that pups arnt sucking on hair? keep an eye on her around 6-8 weeks after she came out of season in case she starts producing milk if she does give her about 1/4 of a t spoon of epson salts morning and night that should help dry the milk up quickly.

I'm glad that you asked this question tripletree28.

Meg has the same condition.

She has a swollen 'ring' around each teat (about the size of a 50p) It has been like this since she finished her 1st season a few weeks ago.

I was told that it was hormonal and it should settle. She doesn't seem to be worried by it.

Yes exactly like Ebb she seems fine in herself although she has lost a bit of edge and keeness in terms of chasing rabbits. I'd just like to thank everyone for their replies and advice. I wasn't over worried but it's just reassuring to hear that it's a common occurance thanks again to everyone Rob

Abbee is exactly the same, she finish her season just over two weeks ago(her first one)
