Rufus is a Pharaoh Hound, or more correctly a Kelb tal-Fenek. They are quite similar to the Ibizan Hound (Podenco Ibicenco), though not as tall and with less white in the coat (amongst other differences).
Rufus turned one on Thursday. I had planned to put some pics up then, but I got a bit lost in the sheer number of photos I've taken :b .
Anyway, here's a sort of retrospective of the last year of Rufus...
At 3 1/2 weeks with his mum Isis, & his 5 sisters & 3 brothers. No idea which one is...
Meanwhile Ben, who had the same attitude to the sea this time last year that Rufus has now, simply enjoyed being the comitted sea beastie that he has become :D
And lastly a couple of shots of Rufus back on dry land, giving who knows what a damn good staring at!
Dave.
Last month I posted pics of Ben & Rufus in the snow, now in complete contrast it's t-shirt weather here 8) .Gotta love the British weather!
So I thought it was about time to get Rufus used to going into the sea instead of just barking at it for having the barefaced cheek to be wet!
The plan...
On the DEFRA website it states that...
Under the Act there is a defence available to someone who is the subject of civil proceedings for killing or injuring a dog that was worrying or about to worry livestock. The defence can be used where there were no other means of ending or preventing the...
On the way back Rufus, who'd been looking through the fence/hedge, suddenly belted off, did a rapid 100 metre U-turn into the next field in pursuit of pheasants. He came back with this evil look on his face
It occasionally snows here on the solway but it very rarely lays :( , so when it was snowing last night I expected to wake up to the usual cold, damp and dreary scene. I was surprised to wake up to a white world :D . Cue big kid attitude, I was straight out the door with camera and dogs...
Hmmm, this could be a long one....
Rufus is fairly easy to live with as long as he gets enough excercise and play.
If he gets bored he starts to make up his own games, like chasing his back leg, catching and holding it in his mouth as if it was a bunny rather than something attached to his...
Yes, he's one of them
His ear hasn't bothered him at all since he hurt it, except when he tries to shake his head, which causes him to give out a tiny yip and he decides against it.
I definately agree though, he still as handsome, and talented too...
On Thursday morning Rufus lost a small chunk of his right ear! :(
I don't know for certain what happened. I took him & Ben out as usual when I got up, then showered, got myself a coffee before I went to work, Rufus trotted up to me and I saw the blood on his head then saw his ear. It was...
I can't believe it's been that long, or that he's so big, and when did his face get so long!!!
He's teething now so of course he's chewing everything...
...except me
and here's some action pics from this morning
Lurcher coursing
and playing with a Northern Inuit we...
Welcome to K9 :)
I didn't have any dogs for the first 3 months on here & I've still only got half a whippet (so far :D ).
My two's best mates are a springer and a springer x American pit bull (his dad,Doggle, was the bravest/dumbest dog EVER).
Dave.
Who...me?
but I'm so pretty :* !
Anyway...Ben had a yellow rubber ring
Ben loved his yellow rubber ring, it would go a long way and didn't stop when it hit the ground like a ball does. He could do sliding tackles...
When I had the yellow rubber ring it had his undivided...
There's a 17 month old ex racing whippet at Dumfriesshire Greyhound Rescue looking for a home. He's called Fionn, about 2 thirds down the page, no piccy though.
