Further they both have pedigrees. I don't know why the term non-ped came to be in common usage, which it is. Racing whippets (non kc reg ones) are the original racing whippets they pre date the Kennel Club.
There are also a lot of differences in the way that the dogs are raced. Peds are...
And get well soon to Lesley Meaker whose rash wasn't a result of her using a cooling ice spray on her frozen shoulder but in fact was Shingles which she has a v nasty case of. Goodness knows how she got home today because she was feeling so ill and in sooo much pain that she decided that she...
Mega thanks to the NPWRA committee and the Indi folkies for all their hard work into giving us racers a great days racing.
There were some very happy and slightly tearful moments. Well done to all the winners and finalists. Especially those dogs who keep on coming 2nd ...
Thanks to everyone who has replied or sent pm's. Best thing is that Mouse is happily being a Mousie roo rooing and bouncing about when he's awake or being mister cuddly dog.
I would have loved to see Percy run that bend to try to get his 2nd half Chris. Such a shame that it wasn't to be. He gave me real a buzz at Honeyhills the other year.
Sorry that I won't be seeing you and your dogs (both NPWRA half coats) run on Sunday.
Personally as someone who also runs at the Indi I'm glad that the NPWRA are running on the ground because it's defo been the best surface that our dogs have run on all year and am looking forwards to running...
Thanks for your replies. re medication my vet has said that unless Mouse is having an episode every week or twice weekly then due to the severe affects of the medication it's not worth put him on epilepsy meds.
At the moment we are waiting to see if he has another seizure. That and feeling...
One of my boys has had two 'episodes'. He is only 9 years old. My vet having examined him thinks that the symptoms most likely point to him having a brain tumor.
I would appreciate it if any of you have had a dog with a brain tumor and would share your experiences with me either on the board...
If you want a whippet for racing then it's best IMO to buy one bred to race. They are faster. Racers who also breed will also give informed help and advice about training the dog.
Or don't have any veteran dogs to run. The Indi Open is NOT just a bend it's veteran straight racing as well. At the Indi there are always straights as well as bends.
Shame that there has been no club meeting (not just at Glos) for those of us who aren't racing at the WCRA Champs, we can't...
We can't make it down to Cornwall this year.
So I'll have to wish you all a happy and injury free weeks racing on the board. Looking forwards to seeing the results. Have a great time one and all.
