She's so beautiful and her story is so heartbreaking. Here's to good times ahead for Dilly. I'm trying to persuade my husband that we should get a rescue whippie girl sooner rather than later...
I think that the fact that the pups look like whippets is even more proof that someone deliberately/accidentally put her to another whippet they owned and then decided it was too much trouble. You wouldn't get a dog in that state and be frantically looking for her. You'd keep your head down with...
James Wellbeloved dog food, lots of cheap fleece blankets (so you always have clean/ uneaten ones!), a rubber type frisbee ring (again, get Wilkinson/ cheap ones cos they chew them whatever the price). I've also just bought them beautiful martingale collars from Juley (collarsrus) which I will...
To be fair, he was coming back to me when I called him but the dog was so close to him, he wouldn't stop when he got to me  His recall is pretty good now I use liver cake! He hasn't ever tried to retaliate, bless him.
I like the idea about him being on the lead, though :thumbsup...
That's a really good idea, Katie. I do meet up with someone who has one whippet and Grover is very confident around him - he stands his ground and they have a good play. We haven't met other dogs when they are together, though. I'll make a more conscious effort to meet up regularly.
I've just been out with Roscoe and Grover and another dog was chasing Grover and really going for him. My two are both really friendly dogs and always want to play but I think since a big black dog went for Gro last year, he gives off wimp vibes whenever he meets those types. It happened two...
Congratulations! She looks absolutely adorable  The breeder must be happy to find such a good home and to be able to keep in touch on here. I look forward to lots of pics and updates - this forum was my lifeline when I got my two pups in 2008. :))
This is lovely to see - he's certainly landed on his feet!
I'd also like to know how you keep sighthounds and cushions in the same room - we look like we've been burgled most of the time as anything soft gets dragged into the garden and destuffed in seconds!
I thought it went beyond awful! I know that Crufts has a lot to offer but if I wanted to see all the behind the scenes stuff, I'd actually go there. What I wanted from the TV programme was the breed and group judging. We saw about three seconds of whippets. There was just so little of it! I...
OMG I'm actually crying looking at her. Poor little thing. Can they trace the owner? I can't print the words I'm thinking of at the moment to describe him. Locking him in the shed without food and water would be too good for him.
Thank God you got her in time. :luck:
Love the new website!
Also wanted to say that the collars arrived yesterday and are PERFECT. Thanks so much - they look beautiful on the boys and I'll try to get some pictures taken asap. :))
They are all lovely but the black and white one is just beautiful - love the composition with the curves of her head and the sofa arm and she looks so relaxed. That's a prize winner!
I can honestly say that since we filled in the form and got approved I have heard nothing from anyone, so no interfering or taking over
The thing is, as you cope, you don't realise how different and more difficult your life has become from someone who has no physical problems. We...
Wendy, you can fill it in online so you don't need an actual 'form'. If you go to the CAB they can do it online for you. You also don't have to fill it in all in one go - you can stop and come back to it, from what I remember.
What Lal says is right, and the DLA people also tell you this -...
Just caught up with this on facebook and came straight to K9 :( I am so upset reading this thread and can't imagine how devastated you must be. All I can add is that I am thinking of you. It could have happened to any of us - I'm sure all our dogs have had romps through the woods after...
He's a beauty isn't he? Can't complain about him chasing cats (my two chase every cat apart from ours!) but we will need a cat friendly one when we take the plunge again... my poor 15 year old cat has still not forgiven us for bringing Ros and Grover home.. :))
I hope he finds a fabulous home...
Grover ate a sofa to the extent that you could see the floor through the seat and Roscoe ate a metre square hole in the middle of my living room carpet. It surely does not get worse than that?
