This had passed me by so thought I'd share as I may not be the only one. We are Dogs Trusts members anyway, it only costs £20 per year, but when we recently cancelled the dogs' medical insurance policies (we've ring fenced a fair few £k in a savings account instead ... that way the money is still ours if they stay healthy :thumbsup: ) we were concerned about the loss of third party cover and the cover our policy had given us re. care for our dogs should we be hospitalised or die. Well I remembered that the Dogs Trust membership had some benefits attached and double checked ... and yes for the £20 per annum we're paying anyway we get third party cover of up to £1,000,000 if any of our dogs (you can have up to 10) damage or injure a person, another dog or someones property, and were we to die care will be provided for the dogs until a Dogs Trust approved home can be found, however long that takes. Not planning on dying anytime soon lol but it's still good to know that that failsafe is there. So :thumbsup: to the Dogs Trust as our charitable giving turns out to be so much more than that

Thanks so much for posting that, I wasn't aware that DT membership carried 3rd party liability cover.

It's something I've been looking into recently - I took Benji on as a 15 year old dog with multiple health problems so medical insurance wasn't a viable option, but it does worry me not having 3rd party cover for him, there's always that awful scenario in the back of my mind where he somehow gets out and blunders onto the road and causes an accident or something.

£20 a year to give that peace of mind (plus the other benefits) and support a rescue at the same time is a great deal so I'll be joining! :thumbsup:

Can I just add that if anything unfortunate should happen to themetalchicken, the Dog's Trust would have to beat me off with a crappy stick because Finn, Tyg and Taran would be coming to live with Auntie Sharron and Roscoe and Grover at the Black and Blue Whippet Appreciation Society :teehee: :lol:

Grover ate a sofa to the extent that you could see the floor through the seat and Roscoe ate a metre square hole in the middle of my living room carpet. It surely does not get worse than that? :lol:

Tony signed up for this a while back when he was single and worried what would become of the dogs if the worse happened.

We also have a doggy ISA which makes a lot more sense, especially when you read some of the tales about premiums on here.

Certainly won't have a gripe with dogs trust being flooded with £20 notes for liability insurance if the government has it's way! :thumbsup:

Your household insurance policy quite often covers you for third party damage by your dogs - I found this out the hard way many years ago when my young goldie jumped out of the garden and was run over , causing quite a lot of damage to the car invoved.
