Hello, I've been away from here for a long time as I have been really busy. I changed career and am now a Teacher!!
I thought you would like to here how Austin is getting on for those who remember him.
He is now 4 years old and the best dog in the world! We have been taking him to gun dog...
On sunday Austin and I met up with some friends and their dogs.
One of them had a fantastic camera and got some brilliant pics of Austin.
We were out for almost 2 hours and the whole time Austin was glued to the side of Wellie the spaniel. And when he wasn't glued to his side he was showing...
Austin already has a snuggle bed which he loves, but he is tempted to give it a little chew if he isn't actually sleeping in it!!
So he has a different bed in the kitchen for over night.
But on the tiled floor he does feel the cold. He likes to be wrapped up so he has a duvet that we...
First I lost his ball on a rope, his favourite outdoor toy! (We're on the 3 one as keep loosing them!)
Then he wouldn't come back.
Austin's recal is pretty good, but our main problem is that is he sees another dog he will run off to see them and ignore me (and the liver treats I have).
He...
I thought you may like to see some photos of austin's first holiday (3 nights) camping in the new forest.
Checking out the camp site:
Relaxing:
What's that behind us?
Ok, I'll pose nicely
I have just been out looking at the different feeds at the pet shop and was comparing protein %.
So how come James wellbeloved (complete biscuits) has about 21% (if I remember correctly)
And nature diet has 10%?
But they are both meant to be a complete food for adult dogs.
What is the...
We came back from the new forest on monday (regular stops for water and car windows open all the time whilst travelling) and Austin had some diahorrea on monday evening.
Before we went away we started a new bag of food which is lamb flavour and he doesn't really like it.
So when we came back...
Please bear with me I am new to all this, our family dogs were all fed on tinned and biscuits or complete!!
When I give Austin the chicken wings, I take it he is meant to eat the bones, as long as he crunches them?
Where do you get your chicken wings from?
And I've arrange to pick up some marrow bones and knuckle bones from a local butcher this afternoon.
Do you freeze your bones before feeding, to kill any nasties?
We're coming down to the new forest for a few days in a couple of weeks so can you reccomend places for the best dog walks and also some dog friendly pubs (in case it rains and we want to go inside for a bit! )
Hello all.
Sorry I haven’t been on here for a while, we have been really busy. Austin is doing well and sends doggy wishes to all the other whippets
He is completely house trained (and has been for a long while). At our house he will ask to go out (stands by the door) and if we are at...
Does your male dog cock his leg?
Austin is almost 8 months (blimey!) and we've only seen him cock his leg about 3 times.
Would be nice if he did it all the time so it doesn't go down his front leg!
I'm assuming it isn't something you can teach?
Zoe (parent's whippet) half squats and half...
When you clean up your garden how do you dispose of it.
We had been putting it behind a bush, but bush is looking smaller having lost it's leaves over the winter, so can see the poo pile behind it.
Was wondering if there was a better way of getting rid of it.
But he wasn't really that bothered with it  He would have run just as well without it!
We took him to the ACES day on saturday, but only stayed for the morning as we didn't put enought socks on so had cold feet!!
When it was our turn we started him on 50 meters to see how he was...
He barks at most things.
- certain people that he has decided he wants to speak to.
- certain dogs.
- people outside the car that we stop to talk to.
etc
and he also barks when he wants something, like being tucked up in bed. But sometimes we don't know what he wants, or he has had...
There was a woman with a young family who had asked the RSPCA to rehome her 1 year old terrier/poodle as it was too boisterous. She had brought it as a puppy for her children
I thought, good on her for trying to rehome it. :)
The dog was literally jumping all over the place whilst on the...
Austin is just over 6 months now and we have been thinking about moving to 2 feeds a day instead of 3.
We have reduced his lunch, but he doesn't seem to interested in giving it up yet!
Shall we just keep reducing it and then give him a bonio as a snack at lunch time, or wait until he is ready...
Here are the only latest ones I have on the computer, and they aren't that great as they were from my phone.
I will try and get some better ones later!
Autstin cuddling up to his cousin, an akita.
I think he had cold feet!
