There was a woman with a young family who had asked the RSPCA to rehome her 1 year old terrier/poodle as it was too boisterous. She had brought it as a puppy for her children

I thought, good on her for trying to rehome it. :)

The dog was literally jumping all over the place whilst on the lead in the house. It had had next to no training.

Then later in the programme they go back to her house as they find out she has another dog!! And it is another puppy (looked like a staffy type to me).

I couldn’t believe it. She didn’t have time for the original dog and now she has another one.

All the RSPCA said (in the programme) was to make sure she trains it. :(

Now surely in their prevention of cruelty, they should ensure that she enrolls in a training course or go back and do regular visits?

Don't get me started on the stupid, stupid RSPCA!

This is the programme that will show them at their most stupid at the Royal Show on a boiling hot day, giving people who do actually care about their dogs a really hard time yet do NOTHING to prevent the death of a Whippet that had been left ALL DAY in a locked car. They were supposedly 'patrolling' the car parks all day so why didn't they see it and why did they not get there sooner when another visitor reported the poor, poor dog was going demented trying to get out???

I have nothing but disdain for the RSPCA, they are as much use as a chocolate teapot.

i have to say i totally agree with everything you have said

and if someone saw the dog trying to get out why didnt they smash a window and get it out? :( cos sorry guys if i ever saw a dog in a locked car in hot weather id not think twice about the consequences.id get it out and to hell with the window  have to say over recent years ive lost a lot of respect for this organisation.i think the rot set in when they started to headhunt people in the city to work on their board. theyve lost sight of what the organisation was first started for.to help animals.nowadays i wonder if some of the people who work for them high up in the organisation have even owned a pet?im not knocking the grass roots workers i feel sorry for them if anything cos they must get a lot of flack from other charities and rescues about the way they do things now.i know a lot of people who have stopped donating to them,me for one and i used to be on their local committee doing fundraising standing out in all weathers.but i give my time and money to other charities these days who havent lost sight of what its all about.helping animals in trouble :(

What a lot of people don't realise is that the RSPCA is made up of loads of little self funded local branches. Each of these branches are responsible for as much or as little local animal welfare as they can manage or afford. They don't get any money from THE RSPCA headquarters at all & most of the people doing the work are volunteers. When people ring up a local branch they seem to think that there are loads of free spaces just waiting to take in all their unwanted animals.

The dogs in the case qouted were probably left with the owners, however unsuitable they seemed, as there may not have been anywhere to take them to. If the dogs were removed and then later PTS because of lack of a kennel space, everyone would be up in arms about that too. Sometimes it's a case of the lesser of two evils being the only option.

Having said that, I certainly don't agree with all the policies & can fully understand why people get totally  off with it.

Good heavens! I didn't know that. I knew there were loads of branches and each area seems to have shops raising funds and so on, but presumed the shops existed merely to generate a bit more income for the RSPCA. I presumed all branches were funded by the HQ since they have so much money in the bank.

Yet another reason for me to dislike the RSPCA intensely. I disagree with the fact they are such a political animal now and real animals in distress seem to take 2nd place.
