Bull crosses suffer much more from what people EXPECT them to be than from what they actually ARE.
They're no better and no worse than any other type of cross for "problems" but unfortunately like other bull-y types of dog they do sometimes tend to attract the wrong sort of owner!
They also...
My lurcher didn't bark for three years.... eventually I managed to teach him to "speak" on command but then you have the problem of teaching him to NOT "speak" on command.
What we ended up with is a silent bark - or almost silent. Please excuse the stupid lift noises. The odd bark escapes but...
Lure coursing, well, racing in general really, is the luck of the draw when it comes to your opponents. In straight racing there's normally height divisions but the length of the coat isn't normally an issue. There's plenty of fast rough-coats about.
People that really want to win lurcher...
Can only second the good wishes really!
I currently have a lure machine with pulleys etc., made for me by a friend, languishing in a garage just a few miles from Beccles (and a bored dog!).
I thought it would be easier to find a ground to run on near his home there rather than my native and...
I think they tend to get their own classes precisely because of the prejudice against them, whether real or perceived... a case of, if you don't like us in amongst you, we'll go off on our own, then. They are a noticeably different physical type so in a way it makes sense to judge like against...
Lovely shots!
Am puzzled by these muzzles - not seen that pattern before. The dog on the right in the photo is pretty much not in the one he's wearing... are they a different design or is there something a bit odd? Sorry if I'm being stupid but as I have a dog who regularly breaks muzzles when...
Aw, shame! I think there have been lure meetings (or at least one meeting) literally five minutes from where I often stay in Suffolk.
You don't know of anywhere else running lure meetings allowing lurchers in and around East Anglia by any chance? Years ago I used to take terriers to a club that...
I'm searching for places for my lurcher to lure course and I've come across a couple of older posts mentioning lurchers being able to run at EAWCC meetings.
Can anybody tell me if this is true, and if so how one goes about getting details and entering?
I live in Hertfordshire but am often in...
I would say it depends how hard your dog hits the lure - I tried one of the plastic coated wire jobbies and in just one run my lad bent the end of it round 90degrees to the left, which left me not happy about it going "sproing" and breaking totally, and/or hurting his nose and eyes. So I stick...
Ooh, am I going to be a social pariah?
I've just acquired a rescue lurcher, had him nearly five weeks, after near enough twenty years of terriers.
He is a bull cross greyhound and I think he's lovely
We obviously have a lot of learning to do about each other...
But reading posts on...
