Caeser milan - love or hate what do you think?

I think that some of his methods are questionable and he does believe in the dominance theory, which many don't. I do believe though that he has a true love of dogs and has their best interests at heart. Many of the dogs in his pack were about to be put to sleep because of aggression issues...

    Hello from a newbie

Hello Gwen. We have a brindle staffy girl too, (tiger brindle), fourteen years old, called Leah. I also have a Jack Russell and a horse, but mine's Thoroughbred, not Shire! Susan x

I'm sorry, I find your posts irrational and I think you're being unnecessarily rude.

Aggressive 4 Year Old Beagle Biting Us Hard

My thoughts too. This thread was started by someone looking for help in curing aggression in a dog. I don't understand at what point it became about Operant Conditioning? As far as I can see, Cofs hasn't offered any constructive advice to the OP on how to cure their dog, instead we're being...

Aggressive 4 Year Old Beagle Biting Us Hard

They use Operant Conditioning with the primates in Monkey World and reward is a part of it. The monkey is asked to show say a hand. When it does, a clicker is used and a reward given. As I said before, I don't believe any dog should be rewarded for negative behaviour, only positive, but I...

Aggressive 4 Year Old Beagle Biting Us Hard

A 'positively reinforced' behaviour is one that is rewarded or encouraged. What you're talking about is a behaviour which has become a habit and any habit can be broken, but better first to establish why it began in the first place.

Humpy mchump ?! Dog Keeps Humping Everything

I couldn't agree more. It is a bad habit and usually, dogs do it because from over excitement, not sexual urges. It may be tempting to laugh at him, but it really isn't funny. Sooner or later, he'll start doing it with people, and worse, children, if he gets the chance and if he's a Boxer...

    Raw feeding

Dogs on the Barf or Prey Model Diets are routinely given chicken wings whole and raw. As long as they're not cooked, they're perfectly safe. There is a Group on Facebook who are solely a raw feeding group. I think they're called the Barf Diet Group, or something like that. I don't know if...

Humpy mchump ?! Dog Keeps Humping Everything

Sorry for the questions but whether or not he's been neutered does make a difference. Does he have testicles?

    Senile dog?

If she were mine, I would take her to the vet. Her behaviour could suggest that she's in pain and the weight loss, together with the other symptoms, is quite worrying. Good luck with her. Susan x

Aggressive 4 Year Old Beagle Biting Us Hard

I agree to some degree with you. In these days of training by positive reinforcement, there is a tendency to believe or for us to be told that to say "NO" to a dog is virtually abuse. I tend to have an old fashioned approach with my dogs. When trying to train them to do something, such as...

Aggressive 4 Year Old Beagle Biting Us Hard

Yes, the bite in the soccer match has made the front pages, but not for good reasons. In general, people are appalled by such stupid behaviour. I'll say it again. We, as humans, are supposed to be of superior intelligence to dogs. If we have to resort to imitating the dog's basest instincts...

Aggressive 4 Year Old Beagle Biting Us Hard

Biting a dog is to deliberately inflict pain and injury on it. There can never be any justification for that. I believe that if you have to resort to such brutal behaviour, you have no true understanding of dogs. Dogs have limited intelligence and biting is instinctive when they feel...

Aggressive 4 Year Old Beagle Biting Us Hard

I'm sorry, I don't agree with biting your dog back. Two wrongs don't make a right. Anyway, with a dog that has shown aggression, isn't biting him on the ear asking to get half your face ripped off? This owner needs to rebuild lost trust with this dog. He's not going to do that by biting him...

    Car travel

If he's inclined to be sick in a car, I'm afraid harnessed in the back seat is just about the worst place, as that's where he will get moved from side to side a lot. My Rosie was car sick as a pup, and I decided to drop the back seats and travel her in a small cage. After a couple of journeys...
