    Anxious aggressive dog - help!

Firstly im so sorry I cannot offer constructive advice as I feel vastly underqualified to offer any. But a behaviouist may help. In the mean time it sounds like such an exhausting exsistence. Im sure your doing everything you can and hope you get the help you need. Chin up!

8 month old from puppy farm - should I avoid?

The money is the sticky issue with me. If its so hard to part with the dog and a good home is the most important thing why does she expect to be reimbursed for cost and bills? Bearing in mind ive been in a very similar situation and i think "desperation" came in to play especially once we'd been...

    Pecking order

I really dont doubt all the dogs enjoy it as mentioned no aggression. She does tend to dominate fetch game but thats because shes too darn fast lol. Other dogs dont seem to mind at all playing catch up and theres usually more than one ball in play so nobodies left out. Owners issue me thinks!?!

    Pecking order

"Unlike us, most underdogs do not mind being underdogs. It is much easier than taking on the responsibility of policing the rest of the pack. The owners of underdogs, I find, get quite upset about the "fairness" of it all. They project human feelings onto dogs." In short sour grapes lol my gut...

    Pecking order

Sorry should have made it clearer. These dogs have been introduced and play together maybe 1-2 times per week. I was really asking about pecking order establishment not introductions

    Looking for a new puppy

Only downside is she bipolar. Some days collie very obedient and clever, some days saluki airy fairy and stubborn as hell, but most of the time lurcher complete couch potato after 20mins run. Sorry just to add. If you were to get from a puppy that would be great for socialision point of veiw...

    Looking for a new puppy

Concur with above. We have a lurcher from a rescue so i am biased but just to put some perspective on this she isnt who we went to see originally (higher work drive type) but my son (whos 9) feel in love with her and now the 2 are in seperable. We believe her to be a saluki collie and while she...

    Pecking order

Thoughts required on whether dogs who dont normally live together when out playing ball should determine pecking for themselves. Rough and tumble nothing nasty ie hackles but a bit of growling and mouthing. Seems my bitch thinks she top and put younger ones i their place. Whilst this isnt always...

Oh dear i've gone and done it.

After joining a dog walking group, attending a walk and vowing never to go again because 'everyone'with a dog is a dog trainer i've just committed my own giving advice faux pas. I have had enormous success with a front/side lead harness. It gave me the opportunity to get my lurcher where I...

    Dogs' names

Saluki collie. Ripley and named for the same reason. I could have the dog he could name her. Eighties child and named after sigourney weavers' character from aliens! Mind have to say really suites her and she responds really well to riprip (high pitched and excited) for recall.

Okay just an update and it might help any one else who thinks this is going on I contacted the charity I could find and advise them. They have confirmed these people are not known to them , they then asked for all info I had and will be contacting trading standards and charity commission. They...

Who would you raise your concerns with

Okay this might be a bit long but by at with me. In my search for a dog I joined a Facebook group. Very recently someone has posted that they work for a rescue charity and are a foster looking to take in and rehome. Lots of interested parties made comments. I asked which charity they were...

LHappyPaws I have no problem with people rehoming. I appreciate some people s circumstances do change beyond their control I also have no problem paying for a dog what I object to is advert telling me no time wasters but is fine for me to travel several hours to have my time wasted.

    Tempremant testing

Okay I lied I'm still looking. Possibly from rescue. Have now read pretty much all the internet has to offer on tempremant testing. Any advice on this would be really appreciated, from what I gather this rescue gives no information on whether this has been done its important as I have an eight...

Potential dog owner - why do dogs need a back garden?

Casserole of nonsense! Ha ha ha I nearly wet myself. Will be stealing that one and using it frequently!!!! Sorry should have also responded a bit to the post. Read my rant literally grrr. If you then feel defiant dont do it! If it inspires you to try and work really hard at it go for it!

I was beginng to think I was the only one Biker John. Fair enough I get the whole donation to prevent the dog baiters ( which is rarer than most would belive I think) but really 400-500 for a ruined dog??. And thanks excuseme that really is how I felt after posting. Just a note im happy to pay...
