Which breed will suit my family?

I think rescuing an older dog is a good plan as you will have a better guide to their personality and whether they would suit you or not. I also agree to avoid terriers, I have a year old border terrier and although I love her to bits and she is very funny, she is hard work! Good luck, I hope...

Who would you raise your concerns with

I agree that it doesn't seem right at all. I don't really know the best plan of action to be honest. Are they based in your local area? Is there anything the council can do? as they are claiming to be a charity but clearly aren't? I doubt the RSPCA could actually do anything but may be able to...

Getting an adult dog to heel on a lead

I agree with everything Biker John has said, also I find extendable leads encourage pulling so I would get a 6ft standard lead. Have you tried a front leading harness? Where the lead attaches to the front not the back? That might help a bit too. Good luck.

    Literally grrrrr

It really bothers me when people do absolutely no training at all with their dog and then complain that they're badly behaved and give up on them, it's heartbreaking. The dog didn't ask for any of it. In my view when you take on an animal you are fully responsible for that animals welfare for...

No asking to go out at night

I agree that taking the water away and going back to getting up every 2 hours is the way forward. Then when you've had to wake her up to get her to go out for 3 days in a row I'd get up every 2 1/2 hours and once you've had to wake her up 3 days in a row again add another 1/2 hour between get...

Worried about leaving my dog at the vet

I would advise you don't see her until you can bring her home as this could actually make things more stressful for her. Vet nurses are brilliant and they will be with her all the time keeping an eye on her and calming her down if she gets upset. You best plan of action is to just make a big...

    Two questions

Hi I feel your pain Luna was a real biter when she was a puppy and it hurts! We also tried everything in the end the best thing was the second her teeth touched us we would say no and stop everything not look at her not talk to her nothing for about 20seconds and then ask to play again if her...

    Separation anxiety - advice

Hi have you tried crate training him? Luna is very similar. If we leave her alone for any time at all, and she's not in her crate, she is very upset and won't settle at all. But if we leave her in her crate she soon settles down and goes to sleep. As long as you introduce them to the crate...
