Any ideas what this could be?

The vet did as you mentioned put it down to allergies. It cleared up quickly with meds and has not been back since. His given diet is consistent so I'm confident that wasn't the issue. I'm just going to monitor if there is any seasonal influence.

    Advice please

Totally agree with previous comments. I would report and detail that the dog is clearly distressed based upon it barking for long periods of time.

    Raw dog food brands

I haven't had any issues with the quality of the meat, my boy does well on it. He is only 8 months old and is growing well and his coat is in good order. Poo is also good. I think it's just cheap on the basis of they are a smaller company with much smaller overheads so are able to sell cheaper...

Any ideas what this could be?

It's just a single spot and he also has some reddening between his toes. He has been to the vets today and given a course of steroids as they believe it to be an allergic reaction to something. I'm not sure what though as he has not eaten or come into contact with anything out of the ordinary as...

Any ideas what this could be?

No, being a boxer every evening he picks one off us to lay on and snores in our ears. He is constantly in contact with us and no signs from anyone else.

Any ideas what this could be?

Learn something new every day. It's a very misleading name.

Any ideas what this could be?

Possibly..... I hadn't considered it as he regularly has flea and worm treatment as he is on a pet plan at the vets. Now you mention it the marking is similar to ringworm but I'm not 100% sure. Guess its ring vets to get them to take a look.

I use landywoods for his meat content. Then I add offal, bone, fruit, eggs, oily fish to his diet. I typically aim for 80/10/10 but I'm far from strict his poo tends to tell me if we need to adjust slightly. I use landywoods mainly because my local shop stock it and for example tripe is 65p...

Any ideas what this could be?

As the title suggests any ideas? My boy is just over 8 months old. We are based in Nottinghamshire but have recently spent time in the new forest and in Norfolk. It's not to clear but he seems to have developed patchy fur on his chest where fur is thinning and the sore shown in the other photo...

    Dodsley the Boxer

So it's been a while since my last post, my boy is growing into a cheeky playful child. 6.5 months old and weighing 22kg. Here are some photos of him keeping cool over the past few days.

    Raw diets,

Agreed I would suspect that it's totally unsubstantiated and as long as you give the dog good quality meat for example cheap cuts and bone from a local butcher I cant see how it poses any more risk than making your own dinner. But then again what do we know. Common sense doesn't get considered...

    Raw diets,

Are these infection risks in relation to humans? I agree with the confusion as it's like saying it's too risky preparing your own food. That being said if the doctors told me that I think I would need to seriously consider if it was worth the risk. Also thanks all

    Raw diets,

I decided to move my boy onto a raw diet a while back. The argument made by raw feeders on here along with honeys book and guidance was just too compelling. Anyway now he has had some time to settle into the diet I just thought I would provide an update. I have to say from day one of the...

    Yogurt

Thanks for that always good to hear what others are doing. My boy loves blueberries so I give him a treat of yogurt and blueberries once a week. Always unsweetened. I am very interested in making my own but for now at least I'm still perfecting his raw diet so will leave that for a future venture

    Yogurt

Was just curious as to what active yogurts people use and deem a good brand for their fur covered friends. Also how do you decide portion size?

Good job my dogs can't read!

Lol I love the sign in that last post..... There is a section in our local woods that has a sign that states "please don't let your dogs foul this trail". I'm sorry, I'm happy to be responsible and clean up after my dog but has anyone mastered telling your dog it's not allowed to pee or poo in...

    Boxer Gait - hips knackered?

I own a boxer who is about 5 months old now and I am far from an expert so my opinion really means nothing. If I had to make an observation and comparison, when compared to how my boy walks, my boy seems a little more free in his back end being less rigid but generally he is rather excited to...

People coming into our garden to let dogs sniff and pee....

Entirly a different situation. One is a public space for everybodies recreation. The other is privately owned land and could be classed as trespass. They are not even remotly comparable situations.

    Raw diets,

I had not considered that way, sounds a good way to go about it but from a more positive perspective. Previously I just relied upon praise and fuss for no aggression and waiting nicely but will certainly give it a go.
