My 11 month old frenchie still barks at 6am every morning, I have tried ignoring him for upto an hour, tried letting him out without talking to him or making a fuss then outing him back.in his crate whilst we get some.more sleep but nothing seems to be working. We won't go to him unless he is quiet. We.go to bed around 9pm and wake for.work around 6, my husband wakes at 4 for work so let's him out then I'm up at 6. It's more weekends when we want a lie in..... any suggestions???

I'm afraid in my experience, what is normal for 5 days a week will be considered how things should be done on the other two days. View it as a great motivator to get started on the day, or take it in turns to have a lie-in.

Your dog doesn't know it's the weekend! I personally am not a fan of leaving dogs to bark, or cry. Apart from disturbing you and possibly your neighbours, they are communicating for a reason and the ones that stop do so because they are giving up rather than because they think everything is fine.
I would suggest a couple of things. First, make sure he isn't being disturbed by anything outside - light, wildlife etc - if he is in a crate, cover it with a blanket; or move his bed away from windows etc.
Also in daytime teach him a 'settle' cue (video below). Once he understands, you can use that to tell him to settle down for a bit longer and have your lie in. This would rely on you being in earshot so you might need to move his bed closer to your bedroom, or even into your room for a while. If you do that, you can move him back to his sleeping place but do that gradually over a couple of weeks.

How many hours throughout a 24 hour working period, (including day and night), does your dog stay in the cage?

Is he downstairs or in the bedroom in his crate? 9 hours is quite a long time for a puppy if he’s on his own , probably feeling lonely and in need of a cuddle

I wouldn't, but maybe turn it so the open side is away from any windows.

Don't get lie ins I am afraid ..If Bettys awake she licks me until I am and nothing is going to make her go back to sleep she starts quietly whining and if no movement louder she gets she was up at 20 past 6 this morning out for a walk qrt to 7

Hopefully the clocks changing in a few days might help... for a bit!
I used to hate it when the clocks went forward because I'd lose an hour's sleep, and love the clocks going back because I'd gain an hour's sleep. Now I think I prefer them going forward, because I'm not woken up by whining at 6.30 or pestered for his walk or tea or bedtime half an hour or more before they're due. Shame he's much quicker to adapt to this change than the other one, where he starts whining 1.5 hours before something's due!

My labradoodle is 4 years old and she wakes us up between 5:30 and 6 everyday (in a very cute way with kisses and cuddles).... we get lie ins when we go on vacation....
I suggest trying to get up a few days in a row BEFORE he starts barking and reward him and give him lots of praise. Basically try to teach him he will be rewarded more if he's quiet when he wakes up. It may take more than "a few days" but see if you can get a pattern going.
