My nephew has recently purchased his first lurcher pup,he asked me to find out if any of you had this breed in the past/present and what is your views on them.? :zorro:

I've never had one in the past but I was having a chat to somebody a while ago and we were discussing the merits of a 3/4 whippet 1/4 Collie, they don't appear to be a cross thats bred that often (the first that is) possibly as the speed would be reduced a lot by the addition of collie blood ?.gutsey said:

Did'nt own one myself,but an old mate did,and he was a great wee dog on the lamp,and exelled on ferreted rabbit's.He was all in all,a rabbit only dog,but a pretty good one,with regular haul's of 40,50 rabbit's per night.Would'nt retrieve,but that was'nt his fault.

never owned 1 myself or ever seen 1 work but theres a article in this months earthdog- runningdog magazine and the author says all 1st cross collies are to slow and also some of the 3/4 crosses are to slow as well hes says they defintley dont have lung power or mentality required for coursing.
