Swallownest facilities are excellent new showers and toilets, ample room for caravans and tents, club refurbished, games room with sky T.V. and the best bit the ale is only £1-37p a pint.
Main thing - What's the track like?

I believe it was "uphill" from what i've been told? Does it need much work doing at it?

TRACKS NOT BAD NEEDS A BIT OF WORK MAINLY ROLLING AND SANDPIT PUTTING IN I WOULD,NT SAY IT WAS UPHILL

is there a sandpit now? if not is it absoulty neccesary to have one put in? just thinking of the cost, and not all tracks have a sandpit finish i dont think any up here in the north east have a sand pit finish. ;)

IMO its a sand pit finish every time to cushion the dogs feet. Its only £30 a ton but if we are strapped for cash carole you & peter can bring a couple of loads of sand from Whitley Bay LOL.

Geoff

lol we dont have sand pit finishes in the north east our dogs r hard pmsl

there isn,t a sand pit at present, there hasn,t been a whippet club at Swallownest for a long time, but as we now have our own permanent venue we will do our best to get it as near perfect as possible. Don,t see the point of not having a sand pit if we can put one in

i also would be more than happy to run with out a sand pit finish old hall has never had 1 and the champs were there for some time i also think it takes to much maintanance if there is any stones on the grass u can see them but not always can u under sand

Never been keen on sand pit finishes...blue goblin used to run wide to avoid the one at melton

I believe the majority of racers would want a sand pit finish but lets get some feedback for the meeting.

Did any one object when a sand pit was put in at asfordby?

i dont think anyone is objecting milly we r just saying that we arent that keen on them. we dont have any sand pit finishes in the north like i say well none that i know of so our dogs arent used to them.

Dont have one at our club either, i think as long as the ground at the end has a bit of give in it then it's fine. I wouldn't consider it a necessity at a champs venue but like Linda says if everyone has a say they get some kind of idea how many want it. Like Andrew said, Old Hall doesn't have one and champs were run on there for years
