My dogs and I were big time losers this weekend. Results later.

Dino was bitten by an ant whilst in the ring on Saturday and I was forced to withdraw him. The judge didn't even get to lay his hands on him. Very disappointed. I don't mind being beaten, (well actually sometimes I do mind), but by an ant????? (w00t) :angry:

So sorry to hear that, Lana. From the tone of your post, I assume being bitten by an ant i Australia is not good, but not exactly life-threatening either?

Anyway, I hope Dino has a speedy recovery, and that you have better luck at your next show. :luck: :luck: :luck:

Being bitten by an ant in Australia is very bad. Our ants here are huge and very nasty. I saw one at a dog show once who walked into the ring during the judging of the toy group. The silly overseas judge tried to give it best in group until the steward explained to him what it was. (w00t)

(w00t) well some ants are so big I could almost believe that Gajo! :lol:

Bard, there are lots of different types of ants here, but these nasty big black ones really sting when they bite and the dog just can't put their foot down. they get very distressed and bite at their foot and limp terribly. And the pain continues for quite some time.

There are various remedies people suggest - certain sprays, ice, asthma puffers sprayed onto the site, but unless you have the item in your pocket in the ring there's not much you can do about the situation. The judge really didn't give me much option either - he said "What are you going to do? You'll have to withdraw him, I can't judge him like that." So that was it - he didn't even give me the option to ask if anyone had a remedy handy. (Even so - I've never seen any of those remedies work instantly - so in reality I didn't have much option) It was just so annoying to drive for five hours and have that happen to my best boy.

From the NZ results in the weekend at the southern ladies KA shows on the sunday Ch Kana-ka Katwalk Kween aka Lucy went on to win Reserve Best In Show & NZ Bred in Show well done yo her owners Angela & Ian who are pretty much newbies to the breed - sorry no photos

Hi!

Some news from Sweden with a "Nz touch". Sunday, my bitch puppy “Juni” by Ch Ronndal Zinedine Zidane made her debut in the show ring by winning BOB-puppy, best sighthound puppy and overall BIS-5 from several hundreds of puppies entered. Nice start!!
