hi,,all

i am traing my whippet on the bends,,,,,,,with an inside hare,,,,,but am i right in saying most tracks are outside hares? and apart from my dog looking the wrong way at the traps,,,,can it cause any other problem,s for me ?

All NNWRF & BWRA bend meetings are all run on a outside hare

I wish we had some tracks still with inside hare as they were great to train a dog to run the bends better i think than outside for training ----not i might add for running though gets em to rail well in my humble opinion--and not run wide to first bend surprising how much ground they loose running wide--difference between winning and second--

steve

why not school on the inside 3/ 4 times then introduce on to out side hopefully after a couple of runs he will get the idea of outside and rail :D where is the inside hare???? good luck  :luck:

I think advice you're given in about right. Schooling to an inside hare never did Moany Moany any injustice, round is round as far as she's concerned. Conversely Connor's Lass had never seen in inside hare until she was 2 years of age and the first time she saw it was at an open where she took Supreme Bitch  .

You might get a bit of a steady first run on a change of hare but I should think that at the end of the day the dogs will chase no matter whether they're chasing something on their inside, their outside or straight up the middle (hell my dogs even chase things up trees :- ")

Good Luck with your schooling :luck:

cheer,s for the advice,,,,,,,,,the track am on about is thornton track, its three miles from the kirkcaldy track,,,,,,

is it a training track or greyhound race track, when do they have meetings. just a thought when we up at the derby we could have a look

they race the greyhounds every wenesday and saturday night,,,sundays for trailing,,,,,,,,,,the owner has all ready mentioned to my brother,,,,,that if the whippet folk

want to run there they would be more than welcome,,,,,,,

Its a good track-

We've run whippets there before-sadly though the opens have never been well attended...

I once asked Arthur Cooke about having the Gripper Bend Open on midweek at Thornton track whilst the Derby is on i reckon this would get a few more up to Scotland and many more to compete for this event---

i dont know what the feeling is or the amount of exrtra work this might make---maybe it would be to much for this little club to cope with or just not workable

maybe midweek would not be acceptable to the stadium?

it just seemed to me to be a crying shame that after all the work they put into all the events they stage----

unless there is loads of money added they dont get the support they truly deserve--

if they were to be interested maybe someone from the Kirkcaldy club could ask Vicky to put a poll on asking others what they feel--for the club???

Just a suggestion for the good of the Scottish Region and the effort they put into making the sport a pleasure to participate in ----in the hope they get the support they are worthy of and deserve---

steve

I also think it is a shame that unless a great deal of prize money is involved the Scottish region seems to be the worst attended for opens, apart from the Derby and opens that co-incide with this we do hold a few more opens during the year where racers can pick up top ten points these are never well attended, we have changed formats etc of these opens but nothing seems to work to get attendence up.

I think running a bend event in the middle of Derby week would be very hard for our club as many of us work midweek, also the Gripper is a B.W R.A event and does not belong to the club.

Glad that you enjoy the time you spend up with us all in Kirkcaldy hopefully in the next few years we can persuade more people to travel for our other opens

Maybe someone else would be interested in putting a midweek open on then...as I'm sure all appreciate the time already given up by club members/derby week-

Of course there will always be those who wouldn't enter due to

"SAVING THEM FOR THE DERBY" but there may be a different clientele interested :- "

Famous words those eh?--------'Someone else'-lol

Apart from the derby are any of the Scotish opens on a Sunday. I would love to go to opens in Scot but apart from holidays for the Derby I work on a Sat. Like a lot of other people. I know we changed Dawdon's opens from a Sat.to a Sun and we get more people and dog's. Just a thought.
