Hi, We have just taken ownership of a 6 month old whippet (new dog owner and new to the site too).
She came from a farm, where she had lots of other animals around her, dogs (including her mother and father) plus cats and ferrets. She wasn't crated and I think they dogs had the run of the house. She is not best pleased when I don't allow her on the sofa...think she
I haven't crated her either (so far), should I? She whines all night and last night managed to get her self into a cupboard and chewed threw cables etc....we were advised that she was housetrained but she has had some accidents.
We have only had her two nights but she will not sleep at all at night plus destruction she has caused has surprised us. Whenever, we go out of the room she starts whining and appears stressed.
She stays her in our extension and we close the door, so she is in a confined space and has a cosy bed, water, and toys available.
Is she suffering from separation anxiety from her previous life and what advice to you have about helping her settle in and about crating her?
Thanks
