More to the point what happened to them. We moved to Cheshire in 1994 and when we bought Piper in 99. the nearest club was The Northern. Where did these racers go? Why did they stop racing? How many clubs were there around here that have disappeared?

HI everyone been along time since i posted or been on the board . Due to pc being incredibly slow at loading k9 pages don't know why just having to wait 5 mins for every page.

Thanks pennymeadow for posting my pic on here i can name a few of the people on the pic . John Mortimer is the man stood up on the left as you look at the pic, The young girl with the little whippet between her legs is my aunt nicola holtom with my dog charlies angel nxt bottom are myself at about 3/4 with my dad john holtom and 1 of our other dogs silver . The first lady stood at the back is cynthia attkinson wife of ted attkinson with their dog tuppence. The old man at the bottom of the pic with the hat is my grandad dave holtom with trisha, the nxt man crouched down is my uncle john ward with his dog flynn the lady on the end at the bottom is john mortimers wife sorry but i can't remember her name.

Back to the top row the second lady with the little girl is my aunt lynne with my cousin emma and that all i can put names to i'm afraid.

To answer the question to why the club disbanded was firstly we moved to knights grange in winsford in the mid 80's and i think we disbanded in roughly 87 maybe 86 i know i was around 13 i will ask my dad for the offical reason i know that there was quiet alot of agrueing after my grandad became ill about who was going to be club treasurer etc and alot of people where traveling along way to race.

I can also tell you that when the club raced in middlewich we used rhm foods social club field.

What a great photo. It sounds like your whole family were involved Was that John Mortimer who bred the Foxlinks? Susie Q of Foxlink and Foxlink Flutter are behind a lot of dogs on the track now, mostly through Hammeron.

As for Penny Lane - there have been two. One was Besap's Markwiss x Bunnyridge Rose Marie which is probably the one you mean. Did she belong to your dad or your grandad?

Hi judy yes my grandads dog penny lane was out of besaps markwiss / bunnyridge rosemarie she sadly died not long after wining the 1980 ukpwrf nch 160yrd straight 24 lb class.

she had an accident at a club meet where she found a pot hole and flip herself over and was wrongly diagnosed by the vet with having a sliped disk when she actually had tetanus . Her life was cut short she was areally good dog after the 1980 champs my dad said that besap offspring where banned from the big opens.

charlies angel was also a besap not sure whether she was thurma herladyship or bunnyridge rosemarie though as my grandad used besaps with both these dogs.

Could you tell me the best place to find anything on the litters that these dogs produced and any offspring that they may have produced.

I think i recognise the name suzie q so possibly is the same if i recall right alot of his dogs where solid colours with black mussles.

The racing wasn't that much of a family affair it was just myself dad and grandad really the others never really got too serious about it just came occasionally .

Wish i could go back to those days though.

I think she was Bunnyridge Rose Marie. Thurma Her Ladyship ran as Thurma Lady.

Penny Lane had a sister called Sandy Susan. Who's litters is it that you're interested in?
