HI everyone been along time since i posted or been on the board . Due to pc being incredibly slow at loading k9 pages don't know why just having to wait 5 mins for every page. Thanks pennymeadow for posting my pic on here i can name a few of the people on the pic . John Mortimer is the man stood up on the left as you look at the pic, The young girl with the little whippet between her legs is my aunt nicola holtom with my dog charlies angel nxt bottom are myself at about 3/4 with my dad john holtom and 1 of our other dogs silver . The first lady stood at the back is cynthia attkinson wife of ted attkinson with their dog tuppence. The old man at the bottom of the pic with the hat is my grandad dave holtom with trisha, the nxt man crouched down is my uncle john ward with his dog flynn  the lady on the end at the bottom is john mortimers wife sorry but i can't remember her name.

Back to the top row the second lady with the little girl is my aunt lynne with my cousin emma and that all i can put names to i'm afraid.

To answer the question to why the club disbanded was firstly we moved to knights grange in winsford in the mid  80's and i think we disbanded in roughly 87 maybe 86 i know i was around 13 i will ask my dad for the offical reason i know that there was quiet alot of agrueing after my grandad became ill about who was going to be club treasurer etc and alot of people where traveling along way to race.

I can also tell you that when the club raced in middlewich we used rhm foods social club field.

No worries hope you find the info your looking for

Just out of curiousity, does anyone know of the "Gumbles" or know if they still race???

I bought my first 2 racing whippets must be 25 years ago from an old chap called Mr Gumble, think he had a son called Mark?

One of my girls i remember was by a dog called Openview Flashman?

I'm desperately trying to remember the breeding of the other one.

Just curious

PS I think his name was HENRY GUMBLE?

One bitch was by Openview Flashman x Another Picket who was by Bills Beano W.C.R CH

The other was by White Streak (By Pippawood Mountain Apollo R.C.M) x Canasta White Company

I recognise two people from the picture, I first started racing in'83 at Moira and Dosthill. The dark haired man on the left with the Addidas T-shirt used to come down to Dosthill opens. He had a bitch called Suzi Q who was mated to Swepstone Banner and features in the pedigree of Brummi Bertha who most people will know as mother of Hammeron.

The other I know is the man on the back row holding the dog in the 1 coat, his name is Roly Banks and he raced at Moira for a while.Roly lived in Nantwich and owned Fed.Ch Wonderwoman,I bought a pup out of this bitch from Roly, sired by Jim Hutchinsons Midnight(Papedaro Breeding)This bitch was Mystic Princess.

As for the Gumbles I knew Mick and Gary well in the early 90'sthere were also some cousins of theres that raced.I would imagine someone from Harvel or Maidstone might have more info.

Hi judy sandy susan was charlies angel we couldn't remember which pups came out of which litters. The main confusion was that bunnyridge rosemarie didn't throw many fawn pups where as thurma lady did but thurma lady produce big dogs where as bunnyridge produce slightly smaller lighter dogs and sandy susan raced at 14lb top weight. Sandy susan also raced as posh before charlies angel as my uncle owned her before me and lost intrest after about 6 months.

We have been trying to work out who else came out of which litter so really i am intrested in all litters from both bitches .

Long dog I remember rolly banks to now as you mention the name i'm not sure but i think my dad may have bought a dog off him called dillon i will check later .

John mortimer owned suzie q and raced with us for many years.

Long dog as you are from the leicester (sp) area and have been around whippets for some time did you know of a Mrs Joy Rose she was breeding whippets with my grandad in the 70's and 80's she also did a lot of showing . :)

Thanks for that, i think they were quite a large family, i remember a Gary i think but mainly Mark Gumble who i think also had a sister called Rosie?

I know they raced for many years. :)

Theres a Barney Gunble on the Simpsons his mate Homer has a greyhound (ok I know that was no use LOL)

I remember Mark & Gary and they had cousins too. I was never sure how they were all related. Their racing affix was Picket.

Was the White Streak x Canasta White Company one called Blue Belle Girl ?

I think this may have been a litter sister to my girl. My girl was a beautiful blue & white parti & one of the litter sisters i know was a black & white parti who i think Henry owned in partnership with the lady who's stud dog he used.

I know they raced this girl & seem to remember them saying she had been fairly successful.
