Tomorrow we are hoping to collect a 'foster' dog. He's a Deerhound x Greyhound who's nine years old.

He's coming as a foster initially because he HAS to be able to settle into our large pack (greyhounds, a deerhound, a small lurcher and mutts - plus cats) and everyone has to be happy to have him here.

Here he is...

This was the first picture I saw of him

and these are some that were taken for me last night

So now I'm back in that same old place - the one where I'm terrified that he'll hate it here/hate our animals/hate us/our animals will hate him etc etc.

I'll let you know what happens next.... :)

Hope he settles well, and good luck :luck:

FRAZZLE

The reason he's called Frazzle is that I kept forgetting the name Wellington  and then, when we got in the car with him, I reached for a packet of Frazzles, opened them, took one out and passed it behind me to where the dog was and said "frazzle?"

This is him in the car as we set off home

Are we nearly there yet?

So. The introductions went off OK :) Many bisuits and sausages were consumed (the muzzled dogs had their treats poked into gobs via the gaps in the muzzles) and much bouncing and woofing and showing off took place (and that was just Sally  ).

He's met some cats and he's been a bit whiney and interested but I'm not 100% sure of his intentions so he's still muzzled. Sally is now muzzle free but Stan has had his put back on after a few glares and snorts (not of the laughing kind).

We've been home about an hour and a half now and all the resident dogs are asleep. Frazzle is pacing, whining and whacking the living room door with his paw or nutting it with his muzzled face. It's very relaxing as you can imagine.

It's going to be a loooong night I think. But, I do remember these first nights with Flo, Sally, Del, Stan etc when they were as stressed and unsettled as Frazzle is now and I know it will pass....and in the meantime, it's earplug, Rescue Remedy and a pasted on smile

Good on you Sprout - you'll manage, as ever!

He's a bit tasty, isn't he?

And I WISH I had an other half as understanding and dog-orientated as yours evidently is ... I mean, mine loves his dogs, but only on HIS terms, and dogs just ain't like that!

Your home looks like a fantastic place to be :))

Edited to say that I meant Frazzle's a bit tasty ... no disrespect to your other half, but I didn't want to start rumours :- " :D !
