Iv been looking round for a good Book about Lurchers But couldnt find a single one in P@H and the few locaish Pet Shops dont have any books at all really. Iv looked on ebay and there are quite afew, with titles like "The Lurcher in the home" ect but u dont get to see what they are like and if they are much cop.

But then I was thinking would it really be worth getin one anyways.

I have a Doglopedia. It would quite good to get a book like a Lurcherlopedia, LoL

it depends what sot of lurcher book your after,

Jackie drakeford has written quite a few very good ones

have a look at hers ;)

Hi Debbie. Thanks for that hun.

I was just thinkin on a general "About Lurhcers" type book.

I dont drive so she wont be worked and unfortunatly I dont think I'll get the chance to get to any shows (which would be brillliant if we could, if not justto meet othes)

So justa generally about and history book would be cool.

But then I was thinking I supose thats what the Computer is for and Id be able to read it all up on here anyways. But Im abit of a book worm so......Oh I dont no, LoL :D ;)

Jackie Drakeford. The House Lurcher. This is a good one. Ive got it and can highly recomend it.

Pat.... Oh cool thats one of the ones I saw for sale on Ebay. Its nice to get recommened stuff cos when its on the comp u cant see what it is like and it is nice to get get ur hands on something (so to speak) b4 buying it.

Debbie that sounds cool. :)

Go the book section in Amazon & type 'lurcher' in the search bit :) They have quite a variety. I haven't read any but have put the one that pat cope suggested into my 'wish list' :) as my husband & son can access my list for ideas for Christmas!

I much prefer reading the book than reading online ;)

Thats what I was thinking. I am a self confessed Book worm and its nice to own the actual thing (add it to my huge collect of books, LoL)

Oh and its also nice to have the book there for a quick reference rather than having to fart about geting it up on ur comp again I suppose. :)

You wont be dissapointed. Its a good practical read especially for those of us who keep our dogs in the house.

I was very lucky to get mine at a book sale at a lurcher show. Brand new £ 1 . Couldnt get it in bag fast enough !!!!

Yeah Pat you saying about prices, on Ebay they all go for like 14/15/16 pound and then about £3 0dd postage and I looked on Amazon (as advised on here. Iv never had a good look on there b4, never think to. definatly will now tough) and they have them for £9 odd and postage.

So I'll think I'll be ordering one of them soon :)

Thanks x

I've read a couple of Jackie Drakeford's books about lurchers and would also recommend them

ive read quite a few lurcher books... for working dogs i recommend the darcy books they are an interesting read, i have a general lurcher book called about the lurcher by katharine tottenham.. its a more generalised lurcher book with sections on training, breeding, racing, working etc.. i think this would be my recommendation for you

hope this of some help
