What a great vet we saw today. To keep T's European Pet Passport valid, rabies boosters must be done in the EU, not the UK. So he was booked to see someone in Spain today.

The vet could, quite legitimately, have just given him the booster and signed the paperwork. But, as well as that he gave his spine and joints a good examination because he is an orthopaedic and physiotherapy specialist. Because of T's ruptured cruciate ligament three years ago, he had him walking up and down the surgery to watch his gait, then he showed us several videos showing how walking on certain surfaces will help build up the right muscles to keep his knee supported.

I didn't get as thorough an explanation from my own vet (who was paid a generous amount at the time of the surgery). This guy was clearly doing it for nothing other than helping us keep my boy fit and healthy, he didn't need to add all the extra help. I am so impressed, and grateful.

How lovely :) It's a shame it's a bit far to go for regular consultations though!

I know, and the downside is that it's left me feeling quite disappointed with my own vet, having seen such a different alternative.

That is wonderful!
What a great example of what every vet should be like!
