ok this is a strange thing Spry my little babe seems to have this thing of crying on a night not at bed time in the evening, it started a little while ago and the odd thing is she does it even when she's being cuddled to it's not for attention, it's a small whimpery cry not like she's in pain or anything, I've tried to think if there's any different noises at night but I can't pin point anything, I also though maybe it's her season coming but she doesn't do it any other time other than evening it's left me baffled but it's awful listenening to her cry when I don't know why :(

Does anyone else have any experience of this?

My greyhound Claire whinges a lot for no apparent reason. It could be that she hasn't got the soft bed to lie on, or she wants fuss or feeding, or just that something isn't quite perfect in her world!  It might be that Spry has just got into the habit of it, especially if it produces a reaction from you. I doubt if it's anything serious if she only does it at that time of the evening and no other. I'd ignore it and see what happens. :)

Binx does this Lesley, you could set your watch by him, he whimpers first thing at 8am, then again at 12.30pm, and last at 7pm, he won't stop unless you feed him (w00t)

(btw these are the times I feed him and if I'm ten mins late boy does he let me know!! what a whinner!!)

Oh poor little Spry - :( cant think why she would do this Lesley, perhaps shes thinking about bunnies  or maybe thinking shed like to go out again.

poor spry, charlie my pup makes little cry noices if hes not quite comfy enough and sometimes when hes really tierd, maybe its a baby thing  now you'v got me thinking about it

Oh dear, poor Spry :(

Sorry no advice to give you Lesley but I do hope you get to the bottom of what is upsetting Spry

Julie

Thanks everyone :huggles:

I think it may be a tired thing Melanie because she does it even if she's been fed and because the weather has been nice the back door is open so she can go in and out if she wants, but she does tends to do it when she's dropping off to sleep aswell, if she's on my knee

She might be cold? It took us a while to realise this was why ours used to cry in the night.

He's has started doing this in the last couple of weeks too, I think it's because the nights are getting just a little bit colder now. He's also started diving under the duvet at every opportunity, not having done it all Summer. Some just seem more sensitive to the cold than others.

He normally has either his duvet or fleecy pyjama suit (or both) on from September through to about April, and we have much quieter nights than in the early days -_-

Well we think we have cracked Macey's howling!! :- "

We have put two seats from a sofa in the crate plus two pillows at the back so they are not leaning on anything hard. Plus we have covered the crate and close the blinds at night. Seems to have done the trick :luck: :luck: :luck:

We hope !!

My old GWP used to howl and cry in his sleep - thought he was dreaming about chasing rabbits and pointing!! -_-

Savvy used to do this and it took me a while, but this is exactly why. As soon as I covered her she stopped. She has me well trained.

Teya is just starting to do this and I haven't figured out what her point is yet

Do you know wendy it's funny you should say that bcause someone mentioned she may be cold so I covered her over and she didn't cry not sure if she was cold(she didn't feel it) or just more cosy :huggles:  I have a throwover on my settee which they don't sit on they lay under
