I am a complete dunce when it comes to technology. I have only recently gone on to broadband.

Now for the really stupid question.......

If I take my laptop away with me this week will I still be able to get onto K9 ? (other websites are available   )

I have a laptop & wireless setup at home. So, will it still work up in Cumbria?

I know this is a really dim question but I know people use their pc's on trains so obviously it must be possible.

I won't have electric hookup but the battery will last for a while. The router thingy will be switched on at home but will it reach that far? See, I told you it was a stupid one :b :b

only if there is wireless where you're going (or if someone nearby has an unsecured connection you can nick!)

That sounds like NO then  It's unlikely that anyone will have wireless as it's a dog show in the middle of a field.

I'm getting withdrawal symptoms already :sweating:

Thanks.

no it wont reach your router at home, but like urchin says if you go some place that has wirless then you can use it there, Mcdonalds for example

Just out of interest , how do people use them on trains then?

:b I don't know the exact details, but think ALL of the phone shops can sell you (£7.50 and upwards per month) a connection to use on the move with your laptop - some of them want you to sign in to a contract so if its a one off just buy a single month one saying you want to try how effective it is?

Hope that helps and someone can advise in more detail.

They might not be on the internet J.T  but as far as I know like Bappit says you can use them by mobile network like you can connect to the net on a mobile phone

I don't fancy your chances for the field though

Thanks.

I think I'll just resign myself to a K9 free week :(

It's less to pack anyway

Cheers all, have a nice week without me :- "
