went lamping again last night this time my mate tagged along and bramble also joined me and fly.i decided to have a little scan over a hedge on a field i saw a few rabbits the other night ,once again there was 4 or 5 rabbits with one making its way accross the field towards some crop they keep for the pheasants so bramble was put through the hedge and she quickly sighted it ,a nice little course followed and bramble put the first rabbit the bag.the next rabbit i ran both dogs but this one made it to safety.my mate shot a hare and accidently let go of bramble who tried to retrieve it ,it ran over a brow but it had other ideas and came back over towards us ,i quickly slipped fly to help out and fly took over the course ,100 or so yrds this one got before fly bagged her first ever hare and brought it to about 10 yrds away from me.
we carried on intot he next field and a scan with the lamp revealed 3 rabbits ,i walked the hedge line then made my way 2 the rabbit with fly on slip ,a little run and a couple of turns and our second rabbit was added to the bag ,then another sqautter was added .we missed the next one which was a stupid slip from myself but the fourth rabbit was scooped up by fly.
it took us a good hour or so before we saw another rabbit .most of the fields were holding big amounts of hares ,i counted 9 in one field.these were left for another day .the next rabbit we ran was another squatter which fly took with ease.then to end the night we shot another hare so both dogs were slipped to retrieve ,i didnt think they had a chance but fly turned it over on some plough.
finally got home at 2am after the hour walk through the streets ,we must have looked a right pair with rabbits hanging over our shoulders .
5 rabbits and 2 hares ,with bramble only cathcing the one rabbit fly caught he rest.i am well chuffed with how shes coming along and only missed the two all night .
good hunting
