Well, you know me, I can never resist sharing my holiday photos. :b I've spent a couple of hours making up an album today, so thought I'd post them for anyone that loves seeing photos of the Lake District:

Needless to say we had a great week, and no rain, despite staying in the wettest village in England.

Stopping a while at Thirlmere….the quiet anticipation of a week’s holiday in the Lakes:

We’re going to enjoy this aren’t we, says Stan…

Our cottage, at the end of the terrace. In an idyllically quiet spot:

Another view of the cottage:

Yay, the holiday starts here…….

IMG_3382.jpg

Our first day’s walk…to Cat Bells from Seatoller. Passed Castle Rock on the way…..

IMG_3397.jpg

Here’s a view from the top of castle Rock…taken on another day on a walk to Keswick:

View over Borrowdale from the top of the ascent (High Spy I think):

And who should we meet on one of the tops..another mini:

A mini doggie conference:

View down Derwentwater from the tops:

Another view point:

Stanley enjoys the view too…must be a tad breezy:

IMG_3420.jpg

On the way back down…can you see me & Stan?

IMG_3430.jpg

Another day, another walk…we aiming for the top of Eagle Crag (pictured) and Seargent’s Crag …:

At the top:

Stan admiring the view from Seargent’s Crag:

Walking back along Langstrath….Stan looks distinctly interested:

IMG_3464.jpg

A view down the valley while we wait for the sheep to pass:

IMG_3470.jpg

Stanley thought all his birthdays had come at once at the pub:

IMG_3482.jpg

Another day, another walk…from Seatoller to Haystack in Buttermere. We’ve just reached the top of the Honister pass and approaching Haystacks:

IMG_3493.jpg

Some classic viewpoints down to Buttermere:

IMG_3499.jpg

Some nice poses from Stan:

Innominate Tarn (wainwright’s ashes were scattered here):

IMG_3507.jpg

Less some of the reflection on the water (didn’t turn out too well, but hey ho):

IMG_3511.jpg

Resting a while on top of Haystacks:

IMG_3525.jpg

I hope we’re not going up that next one thinks Stan…

IMG_3526.jpg

Some classic views of Buttermere itself:

We had a rest day in Keswick. We did walk to the edge of Derwentwater from Seatoller, but it was a rest in as much as it was flat. We caught the ferry across the Lake. Waiting on the pier:

The ferry in the distance:

Hurry up, you’ll miss it….

Arriving in Keswick:

Guess what we had for tea all week?

A few other shots….a tumbling river down the side of the Honister pass, falling into Seatoller where we were staying:

Evening light on a rowan tree:

A small plant living in a a slate path:

That’s most of them…the bearded ones hoped you enjoyed them:

And where was Fred?:

Well he prefers the home comforts these days:

He stayed with his dog walker and three doggie girlfriends at home:

Aww thank you. It's nice to get some very positive feedback. I think this view has been taken a number of times, but the light was just right that afternoon and no wind, so there were some lovely reflections. I just couldn't resist taking this shot too... :))

Thanks for your comments on Stanley. I know he won't be so popular in these photos, but I love him, and it's a lovely memory of the holiday for me taking loads of snaps of him. He was an absolute star and never refused any of the walks, even when the going got a bit tough. He didn't cope as well as the myriad of Border Terriers/collies we saw in the hills, but he didn't let us down, that's for sure.

I so enjoyed looking at your pics , almost felt as if I was there . :D

Wow Gorgeous pics :) Makes me want to pack my bags and take myself off somewhere :-

such stunning pictures ,thank you for sharing ,i really enjoyed looking at them ,the lake district is one of my favorite places :)

Thanks for sharing those lovely photos, they bring back many happy memories of staying with my grandmother at Santon Bridge, the nearest lake being Wast Water, the deepest and coldest of the lakes. I climbed Great Gable, Ska Fell Pike, did loads of walks. Also rode on the little train from Ravenglass to Boot many times.

Wonderful scenery, really breath taking.

Thanks a lot everyone. :teehee:

I know that side of The Lakes well as I met my OH there (he worked near Wastwater), and we used to go to the pub at Santon Bridge. Great Gable and Scafell were climbed many a time, in fact we could see them from the Borrowdale side too, but didn't want to risk taking Stan up them, as they are some of the highest in the area. Glad they bring back memories for you.

I enjoyed looking at those Nicola : )

There is something special about the one that Clair picked out.

And the one above the sheep passing the pub is another that

caught my eye.

Stan is looking lush as ever, i like seeing pictures of the little

guy and Fred looks so peaceful in his chair bless him

Fantastic photos ... I really enjoyed looking at those. I've never been to the Lake District but those make me want to go :) Stan is a little trooper doing all those walks 8)

Some great photos there

My favourite one is the one clair picked out too ;) Brilliant !!!!

Some brilliant photos there Nicola - and don't go telling me that you're struggling to find competition entries...! :-

Do you know the paintings by Cuneo where he 'hides' a little mouse somewhere? Well, your photos are a bit like that only it's spot the Stanley' instead of 'spot the mouse'!

Are those the special Lakeland sheep in the photo outside the pub? I love that last photo of Mick and Stan and the scenic ones are really beautiful - wish we'd had weather like that on Mull!

I did enter the one Clair picked out into our recent camera club competition, but you know how hard it is and how critical the judges can be.... :sweating:

Aww...Stan will be chuffed to know his photos are appreciated....

The sheep...they are all the young Herdwick, special to the Lake District. They are the 'golden hoof' of the hills, as they say. They are born black, turn brown, and then eventually grey. So these are the youngsters being rounded up for market....I didn't order the lamb shank for tea that night, that's for sure. They looked so trusting being herded out of the fells, one even feasted on the geraniums in passing. :-
