The latter testing service only seems to be 99% effective on pure bred dogs though.

I'm going to email them because I'd love to know how much Grey DNA is present in Dobby especially as he's 1/8 grey.

Seen this on another forum and thought it was very interesting. Shows what you can do. Nice to see Ireland leading the way

Just a thought, how would we go about DNA tests if ever we needed to do them in our sport ie non-ped racing?

Please choose your words carefully cos I don't want another topic closing.

bye gum when you get that bit between your teeth

I to are very curious to the DNA thing what it proves breeding or % ..come on jac

also prices ... that would be 100% correct tests prices not 99.5% or below

Think you have to pay a bit more for a test that will stand up in a court of law,Dee but they're not overly expensive, and I believe DNA can be taken by mouth swab as in humans.Believe you can test for parental relationship and sibling relationship too

So if a dog standing at stud as been DNA swabbed is it's DNA readily available for Joe public if need be? :sweating:

I'm still awaiting a response from the company who alleges they can identify breeds of dog within a dog. I suspect all they can do is confirm that a pure bred dog is actually what it is alleged to be. I strongly doubt they can identify the specific amount of Greyhound genetic material that is present in a Non-ped whippet but I'll wait for a reply.

There are lots of companies offering DNA testing services, the one I've recently approached (Animal Health Trust) are charging £21 per animal (company associated with the Kennel Club). The test can either be done via a swab taken by oneself or a blood test taken by your vet.

No at least not within non ped racing. The Kennel Club, I would presume have a database somewhere with each dogs genetic code on. It might be worthwhile starting such a database though.

and could you just imagine all the shit that would evolve for the swab to be taken by oneself or their accuser this is where the minimal cost of £21 is no longer minimal as it would quite rightly have to be done by a vet what would he/she charge to take swabs of SIRE, DAM and OFFSPRING and who should pay should it be the accuser or the one being accused

John please choose your words carefully on this topic, because I don't want another topic being closed.

I don't know why you don't be up front with your friends and tell us who the dam to China is, who the dam belongs to, how she's bred, how many was there in the litter, and did any of the litter mates go to racing homes?

There are so many different stories going around, so I think you owe it to your friends to disclose these details. I don't know what the big secret is, but that's what's arousing peoples suspitions.

Like I told you some time back, your China was never mentioned in the rumours about the so called greyhounds that was coming over to be passed off as non-peds.

I hope by being straight John Bull with you, that I don't have to change my aviator
