its called a lurcher, and it would pay you better not to reffer to them as a mongrel, even if they are on a technicality, their skills are renown through out the country and working dog community, they are an improvement on a existing breed. that was just my point of view not that im getting into a debate either.

but thanks for the advice anyway ;)

anyone out there with anything more useful?

Collie x Greyhound = lurcher........An accepted "type". If I was placing such an advert I would stress WORKING collie or at least an agility or obedience competitor. Some pet/kc collies can be fools.

i really wish some people would get off their high horses over the whole "pedigree" thing, some non-pedigree working dogs do the jo.b that the breed was origionally intended for, just as good if not better. Cosmetics make up less than 0.01% of a good dog. again im not debating either :p

Sorry shiloh,text disappeared somewhere!!!

My point was that our so called "mongrels" can be beautiful too and dont need papers to : LOOK GOOD;WORK WELL;BE HEALTHY and above all give us untold pleasures over the years.I was under the impression that this was, IN SPITE OF THE LABOUR PARTY, a free country and people could do what they wished with their animals whether others liked it or not!!!

Lurchers and their owners can be as respectable, responsible and in some cases more honest than some pedigree owners, as I know to my cost in thirty years of showing it takes all sorts.I wish that some people would just enjoy life and leave others to do the same without the constant downgrading of others.Endless mudslinging is pointless.

I wish you well

Personally, I think it sounds a bit harsh Shiloh, I would prefer to perhaps see the word 'Required' or 'Sought' rather than 'wanted' and it is more usual to travel the bitch to the dog. To state that the dog owner must be local & willing to travel, is a bit of an ask, though they will receive their fee, they are really doing the favour as you are the one doing the asking as it were.. Maybe start off something like, 'Working BC dog required in the Gloucester area as a stud to a maiden greyhound bitch........' Maybe state what you wish the litter for, this may spark interest for the stud owner.

Why dont you try looking up the border collie clubs there must be some on the internet.? That way you can see which dogs are doing well in the show ring or agility shows. You can then also choose the right collie for your bitch ie working the wrongs to try and make a better example but please remember that two rights in breeding dosent always make a right. You can then also find breeders in you area that will have a suitable dog for you to use People within the collie breed will be more than happy to help with breeding, stud dogs and even take you right through to the whelping of the puppies and after care im sure. Providing that you bitch is in good condition and fit enough to carried a litter. bi hope this helps you good luck

just a thought but have you not tried to advertise in countrymans weekly?
