Hi there,

Just rescued a lovely little smooth coated lurcher but clearly she has not been looked after and has a terrible coat. Some bald patches and thick furry coat where she has been housed I guess outside. I know with time and good food and tlc she will have a great coat but wondered if anyone has ideas on extra supplement or oil. She has been vet checked and is ok not a medical issue but I just like to know the views of others.

Evening Primrose or codliver oil are both good for skin/coat condition, but really any oil in the diet will help, even a little olive oil in her meal every couple of days. I'm sure with decent care and a good diet her coat condition will improve quickly anyway.

Loads of luck with her - and I hope we're going to see some pictures! :luck:

as feefee said above anything in oil is good i give my lot sardines in oil couple times a week

Yumega oil. I tried this, not really believing the blurb. It does work. My whippets coat has improved 100%. I gave him the anti itch one. Fabulous.

Also, I use Humilac coat dressing, that stops the scurf on my black greyhound.

Yes agree with all the above...Cod liver oil...Evening Primrose oil....and sardines...pilchards

plenty of brushing too on a daily basis... a chamois leather works wonders...

That's good to know, I've heard a few recommendations recently for Yumega Oil for dogs with skin/coat problems. I've just ordered some for Meg, she has a mild pollen allergy and gets a bit itchy at certain times of year so I'm hoping Yumega will help.

Oh thanks so much for the advice most appreciated. Ill let you know how we get on.

As to the photos, tried to take some today but she is quite camera shy right now so not pushing it. Just taking it steady. She seems a sweetheart though and at a guest would think she is a greyhound/whippet lurcher.

Thanks Again.
