Hi there,

I think Tens been bitten :(

I'm not certain how this has happened, but Ten, Blue & Josie, my sisters JRT were playing this morning - they all make lots of noise together - Ten & Josie in particular...

Josie left & Ten & Blue went to sleep for hours. I was on the phone when Ten finally got up to stretch his legs - when he turned around there were two big holes in his side!!! so i put the phone down to have a closer look, at first i thought maybe he'd fallen on something sharp... but it actually looks like his skins been pulled and a tooth has pierced through it?...

It looks pretty awful - when i move his skin you can see that its sliding over the muscle layer underneath (which isn't damaged) :x

I rang the vets and they said to bath it in salt water which i've done a few times, is there anything else i can use on it? i think i'll pop him into the vets in the morning, see what he reckons.

after that is there anything i can use to minimise scarring, its right on his side!

My poor little boy! it doesn't seem to be bothering him too much - but he's deffinately got a spot on the bed tonight! :huggles:

Poor Ten :(

If it's not bothering him I wouldnt worry.

Aloe Vera might be nice for him, and keep it clean of course.

Dont worry it'll hardly be noticeable in a few days - they heal really quickly and they look like small wounds so not likely to be noticeable scars.

Try to keep him quiet (w00t) for the next few days just to give it a chance to heal up.

Ofcourse he will need extra pampering and cuddles :huggles: I hear that it is essential to sleep on an owners bed under the duvet in order for such wounds to properly heal, and breakfast in bed is huge help too :- " (or that is what Star & Leia tell me :D )

Oh poor Ten. Yikes! Hope that wound is looking better soon :luck:

Certainly looks like 2 canine teeth have puinctured his skin,I wouldn't bother taking him to visit your vet though, unless it gets worse (becomes infected ) or doesn't heal.Your vet gave you good advise via the telephone, you only need to see him or her if you're still worried about it,or more importantly, tens is bothered/worried by it.

Nurse Coco confirms what Star and Leia have already conveyed via Rae,sleeping on or under the duvet is essential for full recovery :D ,as is breakfast in bed :D ,fed to Tens by hand from an adoring owner :) ,who freely and adoringly bestows lots of :huggles: and  .

Thankyou! :)

I do worry far too much at times!

Tens getting lots of  & :huggles: and he's perfected the 'i'm hurt' look to a tee :p

If Josie is the culprit - Ten probably considers it a love bite (w00t)

Ah the effects of a bit of rough play. As the others have said keep the wounds clean and let them heal on their own. He may be left with two small white patches of hair to mark the spot where it happened.

If Josie is the PRT then it probably was a love bite  ...........after having our very own MT,she gives all of her whippy friends the same loving dracula type marks :b .The only difference with terriers and vampires it seems is that vampires prefer necks......close to the jugular (w00t) ............terriers don't give a d**n where on a body the bite falls  .

if you remember Peter had a nasty wound(when he was out running) the vet at first said to stitch it up then after getting advice on here we decided to let it heal on its own and now its healing lovely.

Awww poor Ten :huggles: hope he heals quickly :luck: :luck:

Certainly looks like puncture wounds (w00t) I would just use salty water (warm) to bathe it or dab a bit of Lavender on it. They dont like to lick that either. Poor Ten :huggles: :luck:
