JUST WONDERED IF ANYONE CAN OFFER ME SOME ADVICE.

I HAVE A LOVELY 7YR OLD GREYHOUND.I HAVE HAD HER A YEAR NOW.I GOT HER FROM RACING KENNELS AS AN EX-RACER.FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS SHE HAS LOST LOADS OF HAIR OFF HER BACK LEGS,ALSO DOTTED BOLD PATCHES OVER HER BODY.THE VET HAS FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH HER BUT SAID GREYHOUNDS ARE PRONE TO HAIR LOSS.I DID START USING KELP POWDER BUT THERE WAS NO IMPROVEMENT.SO NOW STOPPED.(ALTHOUGH GOING TO TRY AND GET IT IN TABLET FORM AS A THINK SHE WASNT GETTING ENOUGH AS SHE LEAVES FOOD SOMETIMES)THE VET SUGGESTED FATTY ESSENTIAL OILS.DOES ANYONE NO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS?ALTHOUGH SHE IS NOT ILL AND THIS IS HER ONLY PROBLEM,I WOULD LIKE TO TRY MY BEST FOR HER.ANY ADVICE APPRICIATED. :D

trye adding some sardines in oil to her food a couple of times a week. plus evening primrose oil helps. It is comeon especaly in blacks and when they move into new homes so dont worry to much allthough I know you want her to look lovly.

Dont forget to brush the baled arieas when your brushing her to stimulat the blod there

Funnily enough I have a very similar problem. Mia is a blue lurcher who I've had just over a year, she started losing fur about October last year. Now her thighs and tummy are very bald indeed. She also has lost a lot of pigment as the back areas of her legs were always a bit bald but barely noticeable as the skin was so dark, now it is pink.

I have been giving her a teaspoon of kelp every day for 6 weeks and just this last week or so have noticed a big improvement on the pigment side, dots of dark pigment appearing like freckles. No change on the fur yet though. I am also giving her evening primrose, one capsule a day.

I have read somwhere about a sort of temporary alopecia that can make your dog bald for the winter and then back to full coat in the spring and summer. I'm hoping with a combination of Spring, kelp and evening primrose oil I will get some sort of improvement soon.

She still looks beautiful though!

what about shampoo called Quistel, its help to regrow the fur back also they do a spray

THANKS ALL.THE VET DID SAY TRIAL AND ERROR WITH WHAT I TRY.SO NOW IVE GOT SOME IDEAS WHAT TO TRY WITH.FUNNY ENOUGH WHERE HER COAT IS NORMAL IT IS LOVELY,BLACK SHINEY AND GLOSSY.AND APART FROM HAIR LOSS SHE IS IN GREAT HEALTH.ANY IDEA WHERE I CAN GET THE SHAMPOO/SPRAY?IS IT AVAILABLE IN ALL PET SHOPS?

I don't think you can get it in pets shops, they are called ACTIGENER(SORRY DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET THE LINK UP)

i HAVE SEEN IT ON SOME PET CHEMIST WEBSITES.

IT IS PURE NATURAL THERAPY,KIND TO DOGS,PUPPIES AND CATS AND HUMANS.

Two of my lurchers go baldy in the winter around their back legs and tails, but it always grows back in the spring. It tends to be at its worst about now.

I would buy a bottle of benzyl benzoate from the chemist ( costs around £2.00 ) and smooth it over the bald patches plus i would also put them on evening primrose capsules...
