Advice on bald spots/hair loss on 11 week old puppy

Hi I have recently bought an 11week old French bulldog an after getting him home noticed he has small bald spots over him an has been scratching behind his ear so he has no hair there what could this be as I am worried I may have been given a sick puppy

I would take him to the vet - there could be a number of possible causes and the vet might need to take skin scrapes for analysis. Do please let us know how you get on.

So what did your vet say when you took this pup in for his first health check, which is normal practice when you get a new pup within the first 48 hours of getting it?
There will be an underlying reason for the hair loss, be it parasites like mites which will require a skin scraping, could potentially be a genetic skin issue or allergies( environmental and/or food you are feeding) are all common causes of alopecia in dogs

I have only had him since yesterday I didn't notice these in the breeders house but I will be booking him in the morning for his check up as today is Sunday but I'm slightly worried he has mange or something

Most skin problems are easily fixed, so all the best with the vet visit. Let us know what they find.

Certain colours - including blue - have much more sensitive skins. This is a good time to research diet effects on skin in your breed, and also what other owners of blue Frenchies do medically if it is one of those issues that require lifetime treatment.

I'd normally say have a word with the breeder, but in this case it probably won't help if they let a puppy go to its new home with skin problems. So - I hope the vet visit tells you what you need to know.

Great at least you will find out. If it turns out to be mites/mange then they are easily treated and if it is then phone the breeder as they are not taking proper health care of their pups/dogs
