Hi Everybody!

Bobby my lurcher boy has already worn away the fur on his hind quarters - due to excessive sleeping and lying down! He loves the sofa and has duvets and dressing gowns, blankets - the works! I have just noticed that his fur is now wearing away on his left shoulder (only slightly) but Mrs Hawk Eyes here is not one to miss such things! I would prefer to prevent any further loss right now. He did lose a bit last year in the run up to summer and grew a lot back in the autumn though so I could be rather over sensitive I suppose.

Has this happened with anyone else? When I last took Bobby to the vets they said that he is fit and healthy and that there is nothing to worry about - but I don't want the poor lad to lose any more fur! He has pyjamas and a coat but its still not very nice for him.

I saw a question like this on another forum .........

Somebody replied that it may be where the coat is causing friction and rubbing the hair away?

May be worth checking Bobby's PJs and coats to see that they're not uneven on him or a little tight round the shoulder when he moves, it doesn't take much pressure to rub the hair away

Yep. it was me with that reply after someone asked why his dog was losing fur! I think the OP will find the coat and pjs are causing the problem which is why the fur appears back in autumn - because the dog hasn't been wearing his coat or pjs for a few months!! Just lying on blankets shouldn't do this. Roscoe's coat wasn't even tight but as he walked the front must have been touching his shoulders. If you think about how many steps they take on an average walk you can see how this could happen. It's all growing back now as I'm making them be hard and walk without coats! No need for drugs, just take his pj's off- must admit I hate pj's on dogs anyway ..... ;)

Hi seaweed powder is great at helping hair regrowth, just be careful not to use it at the height of summer as it can make the dogs body over heat ... :luck: :luck:
