I am a little bit concerned about my bitch. I mated her 4 weeks ago today and for the past 2 days she hasn't eaten hardly anything and she hasn't had a drink. I did syringe some water in her mouth last night because I'm worried she will be dehydrated. I know that this could probably mean that she is in pup, but do I take her to the vets?

Don't panick .......Inca's the same .........She's well in herself, pottering on her walk's and is as picky as hell ..........Last pregnancy, and now this one I've had to "tempt" her and hand feed her ........She went off meat last time, but this pregnancy she love's it, but is already on 4 small meal's aday, as she can't seem to manage much .......Inca's tastes also change with pregnancy, so we've had to play around with new foods (though she did like Benjamins home made beef burger .......Just a shame Beej was eating it at the time  ) ..........Give us a ring if you wanna talk ........ :luck:

Like Hannah say's,DON'T PANIC!

Poppy pig guts has gone off her food (w00t) which i was amazed at as she will steal anything going (w00t)

She still comes bombing through to the kitchen for her grub, but when i put the dish down for her,she sniffs at it & looks at me as if to say,you can't possibly expect me to eat that ......YUK! :x

The only thing she still eats with any enthusiasm is a chicken wing, she's quite enjoying scrambled eggs with a bit of biscuit mixed in,& she'll manage a bit of cooked chicken as well, but thats about it at the moment

She started this 3 1/2 weeks after she was mated

Yeh definitely normal - Ella went off her food for a while whilst pregnant (w00t) (w00t) (w00t)

That's just what Lily is doing, sniffing it then walking away.

Yep normal ......She's expecting :) .........Inca love's those little ready made meal foils btw now  .......Just the right size for her ......... :D

Well that's good news Jacquie!! It means she's having babies!!

Mouse went off her food too, and I worried that being so small, she may not have enough goodness for her pups - but I needn't have worried - result 5 healthy pups. I was more worried when she didn't really eat well when she was feeding them, but I just kept trying different things, and giving her goats milk and honey, which she did like a lot!

Give her a hug from me, and good luck with then next few weeks - they'll fly by.

Absolutely normal. When Bess was in whelp the first time she stopped eating for about 10 days. I was frantic, offering her all sort of treats and she just nibbled here and there. In the end she gratiously agreed to eat as long as i serve lamb fillet, finally chopped and serve it to her in bed - my bed of-course. After couple of weeks I decided enough is enough and we downgraded to rump steak.

With her second litter I was bit harder on her; if she did not eat i just took it away and she soon changed her mind. In any case in no time she ate enough for a dozen of Whippets. :luck:
