as most of you know Harry was a nightmare !!

To ease my nightmare, i used to walk him around the showground on his show lead for at LEAST half a hour, before he went in the ring. By this time, he'd done 'the hello im here', 'dont you all love me' bits, and got them out of his system . Evene now, will still walk him for 5mins on his showlead before he goes in :huggles:

I agree with Helen - take the edge off her before she goes in the ring.

Also - if hunting is her thing - the thing that can hold her attention the best - then maybe training her with a real piece of rabbit fur as bait would do the trick.

When you say you've tried different show leads - have you tried a fine choker chain? I know a lot of people don't like chokers but if used correctly they are great. I show all my dogs on fine chokers and hardly ever have to actually use the jerk mechanism. They all run on a loose lead with the choker sitting just up under their ears but with very little pressure on it. Mind you, I train all my puppies on a little choker too.

I'd love to come to Leeds and show her for you Sharon - can you fly me over?

Harry was shown on a very fine choker, he how now progressed to a leather slip lead, ( Very recently LOL)

i wish i could  if you fancy popping over for the day thats great

no ive not tried the chain lead yet , as she pulls so much i dint want to hurt her but i could try with one , just a gentle correction may help

I agree with the comment about showing a crazy one versus a sluggish one- my IG Alice was very silly as a puppy and I just let her mess about- now at 5 1/2 she is still the perfect little showdog- she loves it! o:)

Mabel on the other hand- she was fed up with showing the first time I took her in the ring!

But it does sound as if Bliss is taking the micky a bit :- "

Have you tried turning her in a circle as soon as she starts to pull ahead- like the exhibitors of large breeds do? If you do this each time she pulls ahead, in theory (! :- " ) she should eventually get fed up with not being able to get ahead of you, and should pay more attention to you :luck:

I hope you can sort the little madam out, as she is really lovely

ive tried changing direction when she pulls , and at home it works , but as soon as i get in the ring EVERYTHING is forgotten :teehee:

i also feel she takes the micky :- " so ive got her booked into obedience tuesday morning , i feel we need to "work" together in another discipline with an experienced trainer .

chadkirk is supposed to be one of the best locally so fingers crossed i will have some ideas after ive had my lesson

just want to say a big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read this and offer help / advice and support
