I would be very grateful for some advice please - and apologies in advance for what may a longish post.
We adopted Molly a small (23-24" to the shoulder) Whippet X Bull (we think) Lurcher from the Dogs Trust about 15 months ago. She is a fantastic dog (recall notwithstanding
).
Last Monday, she was joined by Ceara a small (25-26" to the shoulder) Greyhound from the local branc of the RGT. She is an equally fantastic dog ..... the only "issues is that they need to work out the pack hierarchy between themselves (because I'm not sure that they have - there's still the odd bit of play that turns to tussle for dominance).
That's the background. Now for the problem.
Our car is a Ford Galaxy and Molly has a fabric/collapsible travel crate (largest size available from Pets at Home) which she happily travels in and jumps into/out of without a problem (although we had to train her to jump into it when we first got her).
For the short term, Ceara is using an old fabric/collapsible crate. She travels well once in it, but she won't jump into it and whilst part of that is diue o her being unfamiliar with cars, we think that a major factor is the fact that the entrance hole is a bit small for her and she doesn't want (or can't) jump and bend at the same time.
We've trawled the web for various solutions and would ideally like a large travel cage which is big enough to fit inside the back of a Galaxy which has the middle row of seats in place. We think that it may also be useful for the cage to have two separate doors (big enough for Ceara to jump into) and a removable divider/separator which can keep them separate and give them their own space until such time as they are completely at ease with being in the same confined space.
Now, we have found a few websites that do bespoke cages - but OMG ... the cost of them
I know that there are plenty of people on this Forum who have two (or more) sighthounds and would really appreciate your comments and advice regarding this matter.
