Since Callie arrived a few weeks ago, she has been making Polly play with her (Callie is about a year old, Polly 6) and Polly has learned to choke off Callie when she gets too rough and even enjoys and starts the games sometimes. Problem is, Callie plays rough and chews and bites Polly's ears and legs. Last night, poor Miss P lost the tip of her ear and there was blood everywhere.

I was wondering if some sort of soft muzzle would be a good idea indoors, just while they play rough (she also has a go at the 2 old girls sometimes - aged 14 and 15). If so, what type would anyone recommend?

Does anyone else have this problem and if so, how to solve it please? Callie is being spayed next week, so maybe she'll be a bit less aggressive after that. Polly has never been aggressive and never bites at Callie at all -only recently started to tell her off if things got too rough, and by then the telling off has little effect . Callie gets so over-excited.

Help!! (w00t)

Polly and Callie - a rest between bouts!

Thats a lovely picture Janet..

sorry not much advice...mine rough and tumble almost all the time... I suppose you could try the plastic racing muzzle type...someone on here might advise you...

Leia wears a baskerville muzzle, she can drink and run in it. There's more room than a racing muzzle and it's more comfortable.

Thanks Rae. We got a black mesh one this morning but it is going right back - it is so constricting -she can't even open her mouth and I could have wept to see her so trustingly let me put it on her.

I'll look for the type you mention as we don't want to stop the pair of them playing but Polly already has one nick out of her ear and several small scabs, so we just want Callie to play without eating ears!!! As I mentioned, she also has a quick grab at Twiggy and Lily if they are in the vicinity when the mood takes her (w00t) . They are both too old and , in Twiggy's case, too senile, to know what to do about it and it upsets them.
