try Wyntafell see if that gets by their`net`

Ken and i applied for our affix(kennel name)five years ago.We had to choose five names so we placed our first choice first on the list ,second etc.Windwalker was our fourth choice ,i had a read a story about a windwalker, and we thought this was a good name. The kc gave us this name and we were very happy with it.Approx three years ago surfing the net we came across windwalker whippets in america. We were very surprised that the kc had allowed us this name , we had already added it to dogs we owned so decided to keep it .The windwalker whippets affix in america is still in use. :(

Did you change their names all together Sarah ordid you have to leave their original name and add

yours to it.
yeh Ann i changed their names rather than adding mine to it. its got to be done within a certain number of days/weeks... i cant remember the timescale

Oh you learn something new every day, mind you

if i bred a litter and someone wanted to change

their names i would say no

I hope the Wyntafell option works out Sarah

yeh i know what you mean Ann but the breeders didnt have a kennel name, had no objections and were kind enough to let me do it :)

Ah that's different then if they didn't have a kennel name

it wouldn't have made any difference to them would it.

What about if they did could you have changed their names

if the breeders agreed.

Snouty mare arent i

Clever Jax, I was going to suggest different spellings, sometimes the KC don't notice it sounds the same. You could also try to seperate words. Winter Fell. Good luck.

can you have two names in the kennel name in UK? or have it on the end? just interested :)

I have just complained to the Kennel Club about someone using "Brunsfield" in a dogs name , but have had no reply yet, so I do not know if they will be allowed to keep it. As it is a grand daughter of Beetle's I can see it causing much confusion when people look at the pedigree in the future.

i saw that one in the BRS and thought it odd that it was allowed,

All I can say is if you are trying for a new affix have about 20 names ready as most you think off will have been taken already :)

I have had a share in two other Affixes which is why I have had litters registered under three affixes, Littlebriton being solely my own.

I think they something on the KC website that you can type a name in and it tells you if it is already allocated.

Good luck :luck:

I got my 3rd choice, so i guess i was lucky.

I tried the namefinder but it wont just look

up a kennel name, you have to put in a name

for the dog as well as a kennel name....if

that makes sense. And it let through a couple

of names that i know are in use.

various spellings of winterfell, if that doesnt work then Westeros might have to be the alternative.

Can you register a litter of pups with the kennel name anywhere in the name or does it have to be at the beginning of each pups name?

i know if you buy a pup in you can add your kennel name to the end but just wondered if there was a rule to say it had to be at the beginning if they are your own pups.

If you're the breeder it has to be at the beginning. It used to be (way before my time) that the breeder could put it at either end, but now breeder at the beginning, and owner at end if they choose to add it.

Good luck! I like Jackie's take on Wyntafell. I hope they let you have it.

I ended up with my third choice (which actually was the one we liked best for most of the time when we were deciding, but for some reason we put down as third). We were really pleased that was the one they allowed.
