I'm guessing its not used now?

This is the prison in Lancaster down the road from us....a listed building.

We also have young offenders prison in Lancaster too-had many high profile cases here.

Anyone else have a prison near them.....?

great pic's, my sister went there last year, said it was very spooky :eek:

the prison in oxford was used up until a few years ago, i went there a few months ago on a ghost hunt...........very creepy

HMP Manchetster (formly Starngeways) where hubby works
 
im not too far from ARMLEY PRISON in leeds,theres a good book out about the hangman Albert Pierrepoint,well worth reading :thumbsup:

One of our famous cases in Lancaster was the handless corpse murder-found in a quarry if I remember correctly-New Zealand connections-anyone remember that?

It went on for ages.....

drugs/Adrian Sinclair case-must be nearly 30 years ago now....

It is a category B jail with a capacity of 424 prisoners.

It was built in 1963 but has been extended. Although the facility

can accommodate prisoners on life sentences it is not set far back

from the road and several cottages sit immediately outside the

fences, overlooked by large Home Office signs announcing the

prison’s presence.
