Ella (3) had a big poo in the night (on her own bed :x ) that's what we woke up to this morning. Sh'e always clean in the house.

She was intermittently panting fast today and had very watery diarrhoea.

She was ravenous at teatime and enjoyed plain chicken and rice, the poo seems to have stopped now but her gums are very pale.Haven't seen any blood in her poos. Has anyone else had this with their whippy ?

What do you think it may be?

She seems quite happy now. Might have to let the vet see her tomorrow.

I would see how she is tomorrow, she isnt vomiting so may be something shes eaten or a bug. Keep her fluids up and moniter her temp Im sure she will be fine but if no better tomorrow then the vet would be best

They can sometimes look pale if they are dehydrated and their circulation is poor, but I would definitely get her checked if still pale as that can be a sign of internal bleeding.

thanks, I was worried about int. bleeding but she's had no malaena, could be still within though.

Have you got a rectal thermometer ? I've only got our human mouth one :- " and a forehead thermometer strip which I doubt would work on a little pointy hairy head. What's normal temp for a whippet ?

If in doubt, get her to the vet asap, if she was mine that would be the first thing I would do. Could be something serious.

The same as any other dog 101.5 F!!! Or 38ish in Centigrade if you prefer

Hope Ella is feeling better tomorow Julie, so sorry shes ill.... :huggles: :huggles:

Ive just got your msg on Richards phone, and your pm...thanks for the good luck wishes...and hope it goes well for you tomorrow at home.. :luck: :luck:

for some reason I thought a whippets temp was higher than another dog, prob because they always feel toasty and warm :b just looked it up anyway.

She's turning her nose up at a little biscuit but ate all the chicken and rice, the gums look nice and pink now.

I'll be listening all night for any movement indicating she needs the toilet, hopefully it's passed because she hasn't been for a while............it's like having another baby ! :sweating:

G'night

Sounds horrible, poor girl :huggles:

Hope she soon gets sorted for you.

don't know what's up with my comp...but often when I post it doesn't appear, anyway...

you were up very early weren't you Strike ?

and also Keith, thanks for asking about Ella.

She's back to normal now, bringing in all her fave toys to play with

She had an orange-curry type poo yesterday that I could just about pick up with a bag................................ :- "

think I know what upset her tum, my mum reminded us that we took a doggy bag home from the carvery at my nieces Christening on Sunday and she had some mustard roast beef, my mum, dad and OH had from the same piece, I ate from a fresh piece that came out later, my mum didn't eat hers as she thought it tasted funny, but fellas...you know they eat anything and have cast iron guts..they didn't get sick, but it may have been that causing her to be ill.

Her gums are nice and pink again, happy bunnies all round

I'm so glad she's feeling better :huggles: .....

Yes I have a litter of pups I'm house training  -_-

Glad Ella is back to her normal self again... :huggles: :huggles:
