I'd think a muzzle like the sort mine wear would be good for your dog in the future John ... although not sure if they are still produced.

They were the first of the nylon type - basically a pressed nylon basket around the front of the nose and sides of jaws but just a thin leather strap across the dog's muzzle, leaving the top of their muzzles open. I seem to remember they always heeded a bit of filing down of the sharp edges, but that apart they have always been fine as far as I am concerned.

Good luck with the vet results :luck:

Thanks for the advice, Ian.....I think that the more open the muzzle is around the top of the nose the better it will be...He was wearing the old type wire muzzle when this happened.

We've got him home now, a bit wobblly on the pins, but glad to be back, I think..They have confirmed that he has broken a bone in the nasel region, the radial something-or-other :b ....but after several vets have confered and studied the x rays, they have decided that the injury is causing no harm at the moment and they are prepared to leave it for the time being and see if it will heal without intervention.....I asked if the area between his eyes will always blow (inflate?) when he breathes, and they say that it probably will (w00t) ....He has to have scrambled eggs for his tea, strict rest for a month (NO racing)....so he will miss the champs :( ....He is on 2 RIMADYL tablets a day for a week and then he has to go back for a check up...

I hope that you have deep pockets, Scott   ...This little lot has just cost me £197.64p, so far (w00t) (w00t) ....talk about a licence to print money...I suppose it's my own fault for going to the nearest and most convenient surgery, instead of shopping around......I could have shot him and bought another for that :clown: :p

Bless him ......I bet your glad Barney dosn't need an op then :) ....Hope he feel's better soon :D

Typical bloody yorkshireman! :- "

We did £125 just for Sunday night.

Probably looking at least a grand in total, although it may be cheaper him not requiring surgery! :luck:
