I decided to head back to the dales today, to research another white peak walk to show Gillian and the boys. Fred, having been rather put out at me describing him as an oldie, insisted on coming along too, especially as it was such a sunny day. He had a spring in his step and said he'd lead the walk today.

Dropping off the Monsal trail by a viaduct….

Right, look smart, single file, and follow me!

Wrong way Fred!

Just one minute! What do you mean wrong way? Don’t go on without me!!

Right, march….off we go again..

Keep up…no lagging at the back!

Look at the height of those limestone cliffs!

Let’s keep moving forward…!

Move carefully ….if any of those icicles fall we’ve had it!

I’ll show him who’s the leader here, says Stan…

Wait for me!!

Let’s keep moving forward…we haven’t got all day!

Are you lagging behind again at the back?

Carefully does it through this tunnel…

And there’s light at the end of the tunnel….

At this point we headed away from the Monsal trail and up onto the sunny dales. Quite a relief really…as it was quite slippery and hard going at times! A few shots of the last leg of our journey across the field tops…..

It was a spectacular walk, especially as I got there early and beat the crowds…but I don’t think I can take Gillian on this one, as probably not suitable for two lively whippets. But it has given me some ideas…..!

Needless to say Fred is quite tired now, and we probably overdid it a bit….but he did enjoy his day out.

Aww lovely to see Fred in the pictures today and that he had a spring in his step, I do have a soft spot for him  You captured really nice pictures, looks like you had an enjoyable walk.

what a lovely walk, Fred looks great! Bet he's sleeping soundly now!

Another gorgeous walk, as always, Nicola. You live near some really scenic countryside. Good to see Fred out and about in the sunshine and enjoying his walk with Stan.

That looks a great walk and it's lovely to see Fred enjoying it  I think you're right about it not being suitable for my 2 though - I can see I'd be worrying about Jonah doing something silly all walk! (w00t) And I've a feeling Muffin wouldn't like those stepping stones either - he has some weird phobias

Wow, what an amazing place to walk ! Brilliant pictures, and great to see Fred leading the way
