think im going to be physically sick. a litter sister to the girl who died of a heart attack has died of a burst uterus while giving birth. apparantly she had 13 pups, 2 of which were still inside, and all but 3 pups have also died. when the f*** will the kc decide to raise breeding age from 12mths to a hell of a lot older?? i'm going to go and tear a few people a new one, both the owner and the owner of ambers daughter :x  :nuke:

That's just terrible news, that poor little girl :'(

I agree whole heartedly the KC should raise the age limit.

But im afraid the real responsibilty lies with the owner of the bitch and

indeed the owner of the stud dog. These two decided to let this mating

happen.......

That's horrendous. The KC will do nothing all the time they make money sadly. I don't think any bitch should be bred from before the age of two.

What a shame and so sad. Just plain irresponsible of the owner and the stud dog owner, what ever were they thinking of.

What a shame , some people just shouldn't have dogs :(

I agree, breeding from before the age of two is sick - poor bitches haven't been allowed to fully mature. These sort of people can only be thinking of money - why else would they do it

well, i went round there yesterday, to see wtf happened. seems it was an accidental mating, pregnancy not spotted until a few weeks beforehand, but heres the real kicker: she had 3 pups, alive and well, then though she was contracting, no more pups. she was taken to hillingdon vets, where the vet said shes contracting fine, leave her to it. day and a half later, shes still contracting, foul discharge and my betting a belly full of dead pups, and they still wouldnt do anything. not even put in a side room through all this, she was kept in the corridor between doors and waiting room, with people and animals going past the whole time. shortly after, she finally pushed out a stillborn pup. again the vet wouldnt do anything. at this point they left and took her to putney, she was unresponsive, glazed eyes, but they rushed her though to try an emergency c section, where unfortunately it was too late. in the mean time, 2 of the already born babies died, though one was found to have a hole in the roof of her mouth.

the owner is in pieces, as she put it, she didnt care about the pups, anything to save her baby, but the vet wouldnt give her a c section and spay at hillingdon, no oxytocin, all he did for her was give a shot of abs.

anyway, she has one live little boy, black brindle with white toes, tip of tail and chest, looks the spitting image of ambers babies. the owner did wonder where the brindling came from, as mum was white pied, the dad is jet black. hes being fed every hour, her sister bought loads of tins of milk, bottles, you name it. hes getting the best possible care, but the owner is struggling a bit. she doesnt want to get close in case he dies, but she doesnt want him to die as hes all she has left of Duffy. she also showed me pictures of her girl as she was in labour, and with her pups before it went wrong. have to say she looked in great shape :'(

her mum is looking into taking the vet to court, not for money, they want him struck off, as the vet in putney told them she wouldve been fine if she'd been operated on straight away

omg thats horrible,

thats like a worst nightmare,

being in the one place where there are people to help you when somthing goes wrong but them refusing to help

so sorry, the poor little girl what pain she must have been through :(

hope the little pup pulls through :luck:

rest in peace duffy :huggles:

Im sorry im not just being nasty for the sake of it but.......

Why if the bitch was so cared for did an 'accidental' mating take place.

Its not hard to keep a bitch away from a dog when she's in season.

And why where they taking pictures of her delivering her 'accidental'

litter being born.....hardly a cause for celebration is it ?

It might sound harsh what i've said but i can't help how i feel....

:'( :'( :'( :'(

I hope the vet is struck off

What that poor little girl must have gone through :( :(

RIP Duffy, Run free :huggles:

How awful, that poor little girl must have suffered so much. I'm afraid if that had been my dog at the vets I would have been raising merry hell to get proper help for her or would have moved her elsewhere long before that point :(

The vets may have been at fault for her death but she should never have been pregnant in the first place, her owners really let her down, imo. Sorry if that offends anyone, but there are far to many people who decide for whatever reason to keep an unneutered dog and an unspayed bitch together and then seem surprised by the inevitable. I'm so sick of hearing 'one of the kids left the door open' or whatever as a justification for an unwanted litter being dumped in rescue or a tragedy like this.

Sleep tight little girl and your babies :huggles:

the mating took place because the father of the owners eldest son and owner of the daddy came over to babysit, and didnt think anything of it when he put the dogs out together. from what ive been told Duffy also had rather rapid seasons, every three months she came in heat, and this one, her 5th, hadnt been spotted until a few days later, so yes, it was awful, it was stupid, and it was pointless. as to taking pictures, wouldnt you if your dog was having pics, planned or otherwise? or maybe not take pictures and pretend it wasnt happening, a dirty little secret yeah? i agree with the sentiment completely that it shouldnt have happened, but however you look at it, that girl deserved better when she needed help. i'm going to be visiting regularly, making sure all goes well for little un

:( very sad to read this, but like others have said..id of been out of that vets long before she had got so ill :(

So they didn't know the girl was in season and she was let out with the dog.

If i had a girl come into season as often as Duffy i wouldn't have a dog within

a mile of her, maybe im just over cautious

As for taking pictures i can't comment, i havent bred a litter. As for the 'dirty

secret' remark, i never said no such thing. I just don't understand if the owner

was so upset about the litter that she would want to take pictures as this young

bitch delivered.

I too think the vet should be hung, drawn and quartered for his part in this

whole terrible affair. Duffy was let down all round.

The vet may have let this girl down but the owners let her down first . You can tell if a bitch is in season within seconds of her encountering a male dog .

It amazes me how many accidental matings take place between dogs of the same breed , quite handy when it comes to selling the pups .

I have had nothing but bitches my whole life and I have never had any of them mated accidently or otherwise .

People criticise vets for encouraging neutering but who can blame them this sort of thing happens all the time . :(

R I P little duffy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx goodluck little baby xxxxxxxxxxx

The mating happened and thats that but that vet needs seeing to in every sense of the word. If she had been my bitch she'd have been straight down to the nearest animal hospital or a rapid change of vet. I hope he's struck off.

this is awful for everyone involved, would it be possible to find a local-ish bitch -maybe through the vet or local paper or radio - who is/has whelped to take on the pup this would be the best delayed start for him with regular feeds and proper dog interaction upbringing.

Sorry Lalena but my views are if you cant afford vet fee's & cant afford to have them insured DONT HAVE A DOG.

When you say Hillingdon vet & Putney i know exactly who you mean the RSPCA & unfortunately they may look good on tv in front of the camera's but they will only do the barest minimum.

You know it makes me laugh, that these sort of people can somehow afford pedigree prices for staffs etc yet they cant afford their vet fee's?

You know as well as i do if this had of been a private vet this would NOT have happened.

I have called the RSPCA numerous time about stray cats, stray dogs a RTA & they dont want to know.

If you have the money to buy a pedigree dog then surely you have the money to pay a few pounds a month insurance, for these kind of people a few cans of beer or few joints less. If they cared about their animals they would do it.

Some people just shouldnt own animals full stop.

ive told duffys breeder she should inform the other owners of her pups about both deaths and the circumstances.

so far lil man is still hanging in there. seems these pups couldnt have been registered anyway, as the dad is a predominantly staff cross. no update on whats going on legally.

to everyone out there:accidents can and do happen, so try your hardest to avoid it :( if its too late and the damage has been done, make the best of a bad situation. make sure your bitch is in top condition, make sure you have money and space and time for any new arrivals. and if things dont go smoothly, go to a vet you know and trust, one who will provide the best possible care! ensure your pups are healthy, vet checked, wormed, socialised etc, thoroughly check out potential new owners. pups dont ask to be born, its down to us, and planned or otherwise they deserve the best possible start in life.

will keep you posted

thanks x
