Right, now that Helen has finally agreed that another Whippet wouldn't be so bad after all  ( a day too late for Millies pup :( )

What should we be looking for ? a dog/bitch puppy or should we go for an older whippet ?

Or is it too early to be thinking about t at all and should we be waiting a couple of years as Leon and Picco are only two ?

No ......you can NEVER have enough Whippets ...... :D ......Age really dosn't matter, and as your boys are so well mannered then you can choose which ever type/sex of Whippet YOU want .......Now I have 6 Whippets, I can tell you that I have 4 bitches and 2 dogs, but the dogs are SOOOO much easier than the girls  ......but then the Girls have alot of fight/spark about them ...Guess this post has helped you know end  .......... :luck: :luck: .....Glad your thinking of getting another  ......Have you considered racing your 2 boys BTW ?? :- "

Whew - I think it really depends on what YOU feel you want (how's that for avoiding the question). We've tried to space our dogs out by at least 3 years, so we hopefully don't lose them all at once (though you never know what life can bring), so that might be something you want to consider and perhaps get one a couple of years older than the boys.

On the other hand you had such fun with Leon as a pup and are such a great home - well who could resist letting you have a pup (if you want to wait a couple of years we might be able to accommodate - shhhhhhh - it's a secret).

Wendy, you sussed me out LOL, once the Blues Brothers were on the scene, I managed to convince the OH that it would be so cruel if one of them perished, anyway Oscar was the result.

Love to see dog owners with at least 2 dogs or more, it got to be better than a single dog on its own.

We have considered racing them as even lazy Leon has quite a bit of racing blood in his pedigree  and he would love it :) the trouble is we don't have papers for Picco so I presume w'd have to race him non ped  so it would mean one or the other

Thats a big secret Wendy  hope nobody's looking :D

We had exactly the same thoughts about spacing them out  but then when you start thinking about how many whippets your likely to share your life with you realise lifes too short

Cheers

Steve

Edited to say thanks for saying we're a great home Wendy :huggles:

Congratulations! I'm still working on my OH. He's very taken with our friend's 9 week old patterdale Inca, not quite enough to be broody for another whippet, but I wan't to strike while the iron is hot :- "

Whippets are such clean, happy and loving dogs you cant have too many!

I dont ask my OH, i just tell him im having one!!!!

Hoping to get another one in the future. Not too distant future either :- "

I had six whippets and a greyhund the other half said enough was enough no more dogs whippet or other then Maggie one of the pups we bred came back yesterday guess what? He fell in love with her and now i've got seven 3 bitches and 4 dogs the oldest is 5yrs and the youngest are 5 mths three out of the same litter the others are two of them are 3yrs and the fourth is nearly 3yrs

How exciting Steve! I can't wait to see the new addition :luck:

Just have to find one now  :b
One thing I've noticed is there are an awful lot of 6-18mth ones advertised, presumably people who've got fed up with them, found they don't really have the time for one, or the kids have got bored/asthmatic etc. If I didn't have the cat to think of I would probably look for one about this age. They might need a bit of extra care and attention, as some might have been poorly socialised or left alone all day. Just a thought anyway.

Good luck in your search.

Well, looks like you can bring them all to the Gloucestershire lurecoursing if it gets going - only an hour and a half up the M4 or A40 from you!

Can't wait to see your new addition Steve! :sweating: I know I'd really love a little girl Whippet  ... but it might be a bit tricky owning both sexes (well for the unexperienced ;) )?

Go for it Steve! Just as with Leon and Picco, you'll know when the right dog comes along, whether it's a boy or a girl. :) I would have thought either would fit in with those two perfectly well, but a girl may well end up the boss!

i've PM steve ,people with puppies and older ones if its any help for Steve
